How to connect a Yamaha P-95 to Logic X?

Hi everyone,

I have been trying to connect my Yamaha P-95 Keyboard to Logic Pro X but I can't find any possible way to get me round to it. I downloaded the midi driver from the Yamaha website for my keyboard and it was successfully installed but when I try to locate it in Logic > Control Surfaces > Setup I see other Yamaha Versions but mine.

The way I'm connecting the keyboard to my MacBook Pro is through a Midi USB cable that has In/Out outputs for the keyboard. I am running the latest OS system and the latest update of Logic Pro X.

It wouldn't let me righ-click it but instead I clicked Show Info and that dialogue box popped up, Is that what it is?

Please post a screenshot of the P-95 entry in the Audio/Midi Setup Utility/Midi window..... so we can see how it is being seen by OS X

Right but please double click on it so we can see the properties for that device....

I think you will find it is not Online..

Yes... and you will see it is offline... which means it cannot be used by OS X and therefore Logic...

Is it plugged in and on?

(Note: I said double click not right click 🙂 )

Also, note: Your P-95 is not a control surface but a midi keyboard/controller.. so it shouldn't have an entry under Control Surfaces....

Oh I forgot, as a plus I also got a sound interface Scarlett 2i2. Just in case it might be something I can use to help Logic make my Yamaha work.
