My photo gallery shows my thumbnails of my pictures but goes white when i try to see the pictures individually. The problem started just yesterday and only does it with the pictures I've taken since then. I've tried uploading them to Facebook and they all still show up white. apparently this is a problem with the iphones as well, but I have not been able to find a solution. Help please????

A temporary fix I found in another thread ( https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4755149?answerId=21071863022#21071863022 ) was to edit the pictures and save them afterward. In my case I could see the photos as thumbnails, but when I went full screen the photo showed as a white page. For each white picture I would choose edit (in the upper right corner, when I hit edit the picture appears) and simply re-size it slightly, then save it.(I suppose any type of edit would work) The picture was no longer just a white page. Hope this helps.

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Backup and restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Found this thread because I'm having the same issue - but it is sporadic and random, about half the pics show up as white in thumbnail and if you try to view them, but will import into SnapSeed fine, and do transfer to iPhoto fine, so its like the photo is 'there' just not visible. I've done complete restore (all steps above) and Genius bar said "buy an iPhone 5" - not helpful. I have a 4S with iOS7, I think iOS7 is the problem but Apple doesn't want to admit the issue as many people this problem by web searches.

I ended up doing a restart on my device. I shut it down completely and restarted. My camera started working properly again but the picture that were whited out still remained the same.

I went ahead and did a back up & restore on my device and tested the camera before and after restoring. The camera was back to working, but I could do nothing with the pictures that were whited out.

No matter what application i sent them through (photoshop, iphoto, etc) they all showed up as a blank white document. the thumb nails still showed an image on my ipod but showed whit when opened individually.

Even the apple techs i talked to had never seen such a thing (or so I was told) Its possible that its a bug in the opperarting system? Apparently there's something in the system restore that nicks the problem, but the pictures taken during the "whiteout" error time still remain so and i have yet to be able to recover them. I just ended up counting my losses for those pictures.

So sorry to hear of your photo losses. Did you try syncing with iPhoto? My white pics magically appear in iPhoto as it seems to be just that iOS7 is failing to make thumbnails.

I went to Apple store today and rep said this is a common bug with pre-iPhone 5S/C with iOS7 upgrade. He said he hates to say it, but I will continue to have issues (I have a list of 31 bugs with iOS7) and he said they are because I have iOS7 on an iPhone 4S. He said they really should have limited that iOS to iPhone 5S/C as it doesnt work on older iPhones. My wife's iPhone 4S has no issues since she is still on iOS6... But there is no way to go back to a previous iOS.

Bottom lime: iOS7 destroyed my phone and I am forced to buy an iPhone 5S. The Rep even said he has an iPhone 5 and won't touch the iOS7 because he knows from inside sources that it will destroy his phone. He won't get iOS7 until he upgrades his iPhone.

He said its Apple way of getting people to upgrade. Hence the hashtag #stevejobsisdead He would not have allowed this $&@!#%!?

I tried iphoto but it too came of no avail.

I'm sorry to hear of your ordeal with your phones. Thats no fun at all, and a waste of money constantly upgrading phones just because of a newer opperating system and the compatibility issues that come with it.

It seems this is becoming more and more the trend in the world of technology everywhere especially with software: 1) software is released to the consumer w/bugs and consumer is left to deal with it or spend the $$ to fix it even tho it was suppose to be better than the last 2) upgrades for devices/software are becoming more and more manditory because companies are quickly ceasing support for older products they once supported for the long run which isn't cost effective for the consumer or the buisness.

Once again, I've tried editing the photos with iphoto, photoshop, etc, but it does nothing to change the photo. resize, canvas size, image size, actions, exposure, etc—NONE of it worked to restor the photos. they showed as thumbnails but never full photos. Even the apple techs I spoke to tried the same thing via screen share and were unable to restore the pictures. I simply just gave up and counted my losses on those as nothing anyone has tried has been able to restore them.

Thank you! Whats weird is this am, all thumbnails reappeared and I thot it was fixed, but as I click on some, they are white. But I hit edit and they appear! I just hit the auto enhance to get save button to appear, and pic is back. But in photo stream, the white thumbnails are still there, but im less worried about stream - its the real pics that matter the most.

Prettypink, you hit edit in Pictures and it didnt work? Bummed for you. #stevejobsisdead

Unfortunately, the only solution was to but an iPhone 5S and NOT to a restore back up and start clean. I love Apple products, but this was simply the latest disaster since #stevejobsisdead following iOS7 nightmare.

I used to wait in lines for Apple product releases and new OSs, now I dread them.

It's a shame to be forced to upgrade because upgrades destroy your Apple product. It makes upgrading a sad experience now, instead of exciting like it once was.

The Apple glory days are over - even while the products are still 'better' Apple has lost its commitment to excellence and now, like Microsoft, makes its customers suffer through product development testing.

Simply disappointing.

Steve Jobs would not have tolerated this drop in quality control since he got ill.
