Ipad air low memory crash

My cousin is using the latest ios 7.1 beta for ipad air. He told me that third party app crashes have decreased some but safari crashes still happen often throughout use

I hope you are sighing your return window if so I would return I and then come back to apple when they develop a more stable platform. I returned mine and have a surface pro tiding over. Especially if it is a hardware/RAM problem, you will be stuck with it forever. You can return it and repurchase in a couple of weeks when ios 7.1 comes out. Providing this issue is a software problem

You should erase your all data and then check which stuff is important and then load it!

On a 64 gig machine, i shouldn't have to disable everything just to attempt to read an online newsfeed. I just received my replacement ipad air due to the constant crashing of my first one. Guess what? Yep, the new one crashes just as much.

I just placed a call to apple and finally got an honest answer. The young lady said that it is a known problem and to expect an ios update soon to fix it. Hey apple, thats all i wanted to hear. Why did you make me spend endless hours on the phone doing multiple quick tests, etc. You even had me send my ipad in, you could not duplicate the issue and sent it back to me. You ultimately forced me to purchase applecare just so i could get an express replacement. I am an APPL shareholder and this is no way to do business.

There's a misconception with a few on this forum that the iPads with larger "storage" memory (i.e. 64GB) will be less prone to crashes/instability. This is false. An iPad's storage memory is completely different than its Random Access Memory (RAM). No matter how much "storage" memory you have on your iPad, that memory is not utilized by Apple for "executing" your apps. It only for storing/saving your apps. iPads 3, 4, and the Air have 1 GByte of RAM to run apps. It's this memory that is crashing and causing yiur iPad to be unstable through low memory warnings and leaks.

I can't believe they admitted it. I had three different exchanges and a return. Emails, apple care support, and retail employees would not fess up. I totally agree with you, the admission of an issue goes a long way. I literally though lt I was crazy dealing with support. Very disappointing

My Apple Sr. Advisor told me they were aware of the problem way back in November, 2013 on my second call. Go back in this thread, you will see.

That someone admitted the problem and said a fix was coming could well be an indication they really have a fix.

This has been a tough issue, and it would be tough for anyone at Apple to acknowledge the problem and say we don't know what the fix is or when it's coming.

My sr. Advisor back in November acknowledged there was a problem and that engineers were aware of it. He called back a couple of time and said the same thing.

I made a call to Brazil's apple support and the guy said that mobile devices were not made to do the job of desktop and the ipad air was not designed to access normal websites... only websites designed to mobile devices... An apple guy told me that... can anyone believe it?

We'll we obviously didn't speak to the same Apple representatives. There are plenty of people on this thread who have not had apple admit the problem. Go back and see

I believe he said that, but also believe he's way wrong.

If iPad were to only support mobile sites, Apple could drop pinch zoom.

That being said, I'm seeing more full desktop sites, like some blogs, New York Times, and Twitter that no longer respond to pinch zoom. Very annoying.

Wow November. I just wonder how widespread this problem is and why tech media has not run many stories on the issue. Before anyone says they have remember I said "many stories" and I am not talking about springboard crashes that are affecting mostly iPhones. That issue is troubling as well.

Of course that was a reckless excuse. Apple would never say that iPad was not made to surf the web.. duh..

I said that i'm going to request a recorded copy of that conversation and spread that on youtube.

That's awesome. It would not do any good. It is as if Apple does not care about customer service any longer

Have the same issue here. iPad Air restarts fairly quickly so its not as painful as compared to a PC running Windows doing a blue screen of death crash routine. But, it is still annoying to wait the 15-20 seconds to get the iPad back up again when you're in the middle of something.

I haven't as yet lost any work in progress. Thank goodness.
