Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

to see what is causinf your crashes. got to settings , about, diagnostics & usages, diagnostics & usages data. then go down list to low memory or last crash and click on it. you see name of offender about 10 lines down and if it was low memory or other issue. also look at the last time you crashed. mine ususlly are mobilesafari. and lately tapped out. a few times an hour. grrrrrrrrr !!! and ihavent found anything to clear memory of unused programs that are running ... im not using camera but shows as running. itunes app, and maybe a few others ihavent touchedat all this time i am up. and most of my notifications and pushes are OFF.

what imhave read is that iPad 2 may use x memory but an iPad 4/Air uses 10 times as much (meaning we should have a 2 gb memory rather than the 1 gb memory). i.e, iPad 2 uses 50 mb memory ipad4a uses 500 mb memory for same app. i usually am sitting at 300 free memory and have many times to less than 100mb where much more aborts my app. safari is worst aborter, followed by tapped out and family gutpy. i cant ebpven run dungeon master 2. and maybe others . aometimes just changing browser from landscape to portrait helps. like nin.com in landscape ALWAYS aborts.

Hello. I have also noticed that with 7.1.1 I'm getting springboard. Till now I had 4 springboard crashes while surfing the net. Websites wasn't heavy, for example even macrumours crashed my iPad. What I have noticed, that those springboard crashes appeared while surfing the net with cellular data. None with WiFi. At diagnostic and usage logs I get only Low memory logs, nothing mentioned about springboard.

I have reconciled with tabs reloading but those springboard crashes are killing me. I have reset iPad, tried a lot of times clearing Safari caches and histories...

From my non-sophisticated point of view I saw a low memory warning on my iPad Air, found the online support discussion, realized others had the same problem and downloaded a free software package to monitor the quantity of memory available. I was horrified to find my free memory varied between 3.3 and ~7%. I then looked at how to close apps, double-pressing the Home button, waiting till the screen settled, finding many open apps and sliding each up to the top (except for the Home screen). When I did so, my free memory became 42%.

this is obviously a short-term fix, but worked.

My free memory was 42% at that point.

this is a short- term fix and Apple needs to solve the issue, but from a non-tetchy guy it appears that apps remaining open and using memory is at least part of the problem.

closing apps is fine and good IF the apps are running ... but if they have used RAM memory and NOT released it (a VERY COMMON problem on pcs)... that causes low memory. i found that battery doctor hd by beijing kingsport internet security has a memory clearer ...(though i am NOT convinced that JUNK works ... i seem to have to reinstall an app afew times. but that MAY. be from the fact that i only have 7GB Free of .HDD and it may need more to optimize my files.) my 1 GB RAM can be sitting at less than 100 MB and the app can get me over 600 Mb.

I Am on my third iPad Air and I have nothing, I repeat NOTHING ON IT. Only the apps from Apple and this thing crashes constantly. No other apps open(there are no other downloaded apps) never synced it to my computer. This thing is a joke. I have dealt with over thirty apple "techs and senior advisors". Nothing!!! Wasted an hour per call. Thirty hours wasted! They refuse to acknowledge there is an issue so I guess the Better Business Bureau needs to get involved. This is crazy that the WILL NOT FIX THIS ISSUE! Crashing on a brand new iPad Air after paying over $800? Garbage customer service. Very sad very very sad. Steve Jobs did turn over in his grave...gave me the finger!
