These steps do not solve the problem, even if they do brute force log you out of Google's accounts.

It seems to be an issue unique to (at least) Safari 7, where the links for Google+ (or email, if one doesn't have a Google+ account) no longer work. A popout should appear with the signout option, but under Safari, it does not.

Google points to Apple for a solution, Apple points to Google, however, the functionality does work in Chrome and Firefox for Mac.

If one needs to log out to swap accounts with Google in Safari until this is resolved, there's a simpler solution -- follow this link:

Thanks!

I agree with the complaints above. Clicking on the profile photo in gmail gives no response using Safari in Mavericks. It worked fine before when I was using Snow Leopard. If I login to gmail using Firefox, clicking on the profile photo gives me the option to signout as expected so this is definitely a glitch in Safari. I can indireclty signout of gmail in Safari if I login from Firefox and then click on 'Details' and select 'Sign out of all other sessions'. This logs me out in Safari but it's not an acceptable solution. I hope this gets fixed soon.
