How do I change my home address in Apple Maps?

Hi, I realized the Apple Maps does not have options to change the address of my home or workplace. How do I change my home address? Thanks.

Maps has been trying to take me to an incorrect home address for months now. I have finally figured out the problem.

Maps uses the iPhone owner's contact information to determine your home address. In order for this to work, your iPhone has to know that you are the owner, and your address in the Contacts app (specifically street name) has to match the United States Postal Service spelling and punctuation perfectly. This last part was my problem. The way I was punctuating the name of the road I have lived on, for 15 years, did not exactly match the exact and official USPS spelling and punctuation, so the Maps app chose an incorrect location.

First I would make sure that Siri/Maps shows the correct person (you) as the owner of the phone. This is initially done when you begin conversations with Siri. Mistakes can be made during this process or you may want to change the owner, for example if you gave the phone as a present to your son or daughter. Verify who Siri has set as the owner of the phone by assigning yourself a nickname. Simply ask Siri to call you whatever you prefer for a nickname. Next, open the Contacts app and find your contact. At the top, under your name, you should see your newly assigned nickname. If you do, your next step is to make sure you have the address, and specifically road name, spelled and punctuated exactly according to the USPS name. If your new nickname from Siri has not been assigned to your contact info then Siri does not know you are the owner. First assign yourself as the owner of the iPhone and then check to see if the Maps app shows your correct home address.

For most people spelling their street name very straight forward... their street name is a simple word or two with normal spelling and punctuation. Many people having issues correctly assigning their home address in the Maps app have a street name that is unconventional. I will give you an example using such a street name that is problematic with the Maps app. As written on the street sign, the name of the street is "Codaughrity." When I enter this name, the Maps app simply can not recognize and locate this street because I am not entering the information correctly. The official and proper spelling and punctuation of this street name is "Co Daugh-Ri-Ty." Yeah. Ooooooook.

One way to find the proper spelling and punctuation of your street name is to find your street in the Maps app and drop a pin on your street or on your house. A box will pop up showing you the address of the location where the pin is dropped. There you will see the proper spelling and punctuation of the street name. Enter it in your contact information exactly as it is written, then ask Siri to take you home. Hopefully this has solved your issue and the Maps app shows your correct home address.

Try this...

Go to "Manage your Apple ID" clicking here --> https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/.

When you have logged in to your Apple account, in the left side go to "Addresses" and then edit your "Primary Address". After that, sign out and restart your phone. Open your "Map App" and try again.

If the problem are using the "Google Maps App" go to --> https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?hl=en&continue=https://maps.google.com/ %3Fmid%3D1388152391&service=local.

When you have logged in to your Google account, in the left side go to "Search Bar" and type "Home" or "Work" then click "Edit" that is at the end of the box. After you finish click "Save". Close and Open your "Google Maps App" and try again.

:-)

Yes, having issues. I have created a new "home" contact, but maps still defaults to my company headquarters address, even though this is my device, in my name and I pay the bill.

What do you mean that maps defaults to your company headquarters address? Under what circumstances? What is it you are trying to do when this occurs?

The creation of a "home contact" is not necessary. You enter a contact with your name and address information, then go to Settings>General>Siri and where it asks for "My Info" you select your contact. That identifies you to Siri and other parts of the phone. Your paying the bill has nothing to do with Maps display.
