Audiobooks missing from music apps

Hi I have lost the Audiobooks option from the music app on my iphone 4S running IOS 7.0.3. It was in the "More" menu but has gone. I have 15 audiobooks in itunes (version 11.1.3.8) but I can't get them to sync across to my phone. I can see the audiobooks in the "Books" folder and they are still in the "Purchased"folder. I have tried to create a playlist called audiobooks and sync that to my phone but it doesn't work. I have selected the "Sync Audiobooks" option in the "Books"tab on my phone using the Äll Audiobooks"and "Selected Audiobooks"options but still no success.

Spent an hour or so reading stuff from the web but gave up. Called Apple and they wanted $40 before they would speak to me to try to fix the problem, yeah right. Paying Apple to fix thier own software. Not happy 😠

I don't want to have to shut off my itunes match to listen to an audiobook.

I think it's a bug they'll eventually get around to fixing in the next update (hopefully).

HERE'S WHAT FIX IT FOR ME:

1) In Music APP on your phone, search for the NAME of the audiobook

2) Play a second or two of it (this playing seems to recognize that you have audiobooks in your files and triggers something)

3) Return to the "..." (more) selection in the bottom right of the menu

4) The "Audiobooks" selection should now appear along with "Albums, Genres, Compilations, Composers" -- and all your other audiobooks should show up.

*I did this while connected to iTunes on my computer, but not sure if that's critical.

This is the only thing that worked with me after reading a lot, a fooling around a lot.

Thank you! Turning off Music Match solved my problem. My audio books had all disappeared, but turning off Music Match (and restarting iTunes) solved the problem. I guess Music Match doesn't like the fact that I purchase audio books from sources other than iTunes.

With the latest update all the audio books that are synced to your phone or iPad have been quietly moved to the iBooks app.

You didn't lose them, they are still on your phone just accessible from a different place 🙂

Now you have an extra "audiobooks" section there in addition to "All" "Books" and "PDFs"
