Late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 13'' Wifi Issues

My new MBPR's wifi is very slow and constantly drops the connection, although it is showing that it is always connected. If I restart the computer it fixes the problem for a little bit then it starts again. I have a 2012 Macbook Pro on the same network with no isseues, and I will have to use it sometimes just to be able to browse the web. Is there any way to fix the issue on the new Macbook?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9)

So I guess its safe to assume that this is "fixed" for me (if it was eer broken in the first place)

I guess my problem lies with OS X's smb implementaion for sure then.

Apple's Samba implementation is definitely not great over wifi. I've also noticed issues with how long it can take to start transferring. I will say that 10.9.2 definitely helped. Before I could transfer data just fine over 2.4ghz connections but when I switched to 5g the connection would drop while transferring to my NAS. This no longer happens and 5ghz transfers are about twice as fast as 2.4ghz. Still takes a while to start the transfer but no more drops.

I'm getting similar ping behavior when trying to do team video conferences using ooVoo. Every once in a while the latency spikes and packets start getting dropped like the lines below.

This is with 10.9.2 and a Late 2013 rMBP. This is driving me nuts since I can barely communicate people on a conference call.

For me, its like when i visit certain webpages, the internet just drops, no matter what browser I use. There's like a photoshop tutorial page that, when I try to load it, just cuts off my internet, to name an example.

My ping times are terrible once the connection drops:

--- 192.168.1.254 ping statistics ---

100008 packets transmitted, 90224 packets received, +273 duplicates, 9.8% packet loss

round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 3.317/451.833/46255.999/3704.204 ms

I've just experienced the problem of wifi dropouts once again on my rMBP. It ocurred after a wake from sleep. Bluetooth is turned off, I'm running 10.9.2 and when I tried to use the internet, it just times out. The wifi indicator still shows a connection to my Time Capsule 2nd generation n-series router, but no traffic is passed.

A reboot was required to get back up and running.

Very annoying - I was hoping that 10.9.2 would resolve the problem.

Yeah this is my 2nd MacBook Pro Retina from new already.

The first was having problems with loading internet accounts (looked like firmware) and now this one is having repeated WiFi dropping.

I think this is the last Mac I'm going to buy. They've persuaded me to move on to Linux and Android.
Despite the excellent customer service it's not worth the poor quality of goods that they are now shipping out.

No fix for this and no admission of the problem was pretty much the last straw.

Will have to advise my customers likewise (lesson learned Apple one bad customer experience could cost you a few thousand customers in the long run) as I don't want this poor production quality to reflect badly on my company either.

A real shame as I liked a design centred business model but corner cutting on the quality means the price isn't worth it anymore.

If anyone else is reading this I suggest researching Ubuntu laptops and Ubuntu phones. I think it's time to make a move.

One VERY dissappointed former Apple fanboy.

This kind of issue should have had a patch by now.

I know it doesn't solve the problem, but at least it gets you a stable connection until Apple will hopefully fix this (it's a shame they haven't fixed it yet):

I bought a wifi adapter for 7€ (Edimax EW-7811Un) and I am now getting stable internet connection that I can work with.

It's ridiculous and unbelievable that you should have to buy a 7€ adapter to be able to work with a 2000 € notebook, but for me its the only option right now, since I need internet for work.

Maybe this can help some of you for the moment, who rely on a working internet connection.

@all the desperate people with wifi problems: I have had the same issues with two new MBPr's. Finally i got a new router (R6300v2) on which I am having no disconnects, stuttering, etc. It really works well with this model, so if you want or need to keep your macbook and have the option of changing your router go and buy that one. I am streaming 1080p (with high birate) over the wifi and move large files without problems.

On Win8.1, transfer rates are even higher, but after all the problems i am simply happy that i can forget about this and it just works as expected. (i use my MBP at home 95%)

I had my rMBP replaced as a DOA due to packet drops/timeouts. I had this replacement since release with no wifi issues until OSX 10.9.2. Getting large amounts of packet drops doing ping tests. Streaming to plex is no longer stable, and drops connection every 5-10 minutes.

Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (6.30.223.154.63)

Is it possible to rollback OSX 10.9.2 update?
