Late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 13'' Wifi Issues

My new MBPR's wifi is very slow and constantly drops the connection, although it is showing that it is always connected. If I restart the computer it fixes the problem for a little bit then it starts again. I have a 2012 Macbook Pro on the same network with no isseues, and I will have to use it sometimes just to be able to browse the web. Is there any way to fix the issue on the new Macbook?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9)

davidepaltri-

It's unbelievable to see such bug still not fixed.

Your complaint is not like the others on this thread.

It is possible your WiFi card or cable is defective, or your antenna wire is disconnected. Those issues could make the signals from those other Networks too low for you to connect successfully.

I recommend you make an appointment at the Genius Bar at an Apple-owned store and have your computer checked over. Its a free service.

I just bought a brand new retina 13" Macbook Pro. The manufacture date was May 2014. I've had no wifi issues whatsoever running under Mavericks. I put it to sleep via Finder and closing the lid numerous times and when I wake it up the wifi connects instantly. Perhaps the newly manufactured models have been fixed of this issue? I've used my MBP at various wifi connection spots (library, coffee store, friends house) and had no problems at all.

Also, I took my MBP on a trip to a famous national park in CA and while there I had no wifi connectivity issues, so don't despair the future will be brighter....

I really enjoyed the scenery and the wildlife while I was there. Our parks are a national treasure, for sure.

Getting back to point, under 10.9.3 Mavericks I've had zero wifi connectivity issues. I was torn between the retina 13" MBP and the 13" MBA. Ultimately the retina display swayed me to go with the MBP despite the potential wifi issues. I thank my lucky stars I've had none.

While setting up a usb drive for bootcamp windows installation I transfered the iso file from my local network NAS

.

constantly 5-8MB/s via wi-fi although the router, the nas (via ethernet) have Gigabit Ethernet available and the 5GHz wi-fi should be able to transfer 300MBits (which should be around 37MB/s)

Transfer done after 10 minutes...

sent 3.95G bytes received 42 bytes 6.56M bytes/sec

total size is 3.95G speedup is 1.00

I tested it now on both systems (Win8.1 Bootcamp). 11,5MB/s (~90Mbit although my wi-fi can handle 300..) on both systems, so the final test will be on monday at work. If the speed in another wi-fi network is still that slow it is definitly a hardware problem...

If its 802.11n, i think your transfer speed is ok. What about the stability? You said it slowed down on Mac OS, did you experience the same problems on Windows?

yeah it's 802.11n but I lack of around 7MB/s. On your screen you have 44MB/s - do you use an 'ac'-network?

After I deactivated the 2.4GHz wi-fi setup on my router the 11,5MB/s on Mac OS were constant like on the bootcamp Win setup. (Unfortunately my printer can't connect to a 5GHz, so I need the 2.4 wi-fi...)

But on 802.11n the speed should be at around 18MB/s not 11,5 - maybe due to other wi-fi networks around my appartment I have this 7MB/s lack?

I'll check if a wi-fi channel change can help.
