The ONLY thing you can do is get the friend you purchased from to log in and remove Find My iPhone from iCloud. Until that is done, the device CANNOT be reactivated. There is no way around this at all.

Texas has no such law against withholding funds from an employee for failing to return information, documents, etc. and the Texas Workforce Commission has nothing to do with it. There are restrictions, as there are in every state, as to the process for doing so, which funds can be tapped, and the process used for reacquiring property.

I don't know of any government or corporate entity that I have worked for or been associated with in Texas that issues equipment, policies manuals, etc. to employees that does not have a standardized form clearly stating the allowed usage and the terms for return of the material and what happens if they fail to do so. The employee must sign this document before receiving the equipment. You are correct that in some cases an employee may not refuse to sign the document but then they will no longer work for that firm and it is a non-issue.

You can actually file a claim for any found property in any state. The law in Texas even allows claiming an abandoned building in Texas although that has recently been vastly restricted. I have actually acquired a car through the process but not to actually drive the car (long legal story). But the process to do so is not trivial and is not free. I would think the time and money it would involve with a found phone would not be worth the effort. If you do not follow this process you have no legal right to the property.

Your boy meets girl analogy is nice and brief but I doubt any company is basing their policies on that scenario. If they are their board needs to start looking for new executives. They won't get to consider the scenario much longer anyway as states are beginning to require locks. Samsung actually volunteered to build a hardware lock switch but the cell carriers said they would not off a phone with that capability.

Sorry for my error in the post above.

I love a challenge, please see below:

It is not legal to hold a final paycheck past the deadline for reasons such as failure to return company property, failure to sign timesheets, or similar problems. If the company knows or should know what the pay should be, it must deliver the final pay no later than the deadline, as noted above.

That comes from http://www.twc.state.tx.us/news/efte/final_pay.html not sure why you would think the Workforce Commission has nothing to do with the laws over employers and employees??

As for cell companies basing their policies on my boy/girl analogy I think you forget it's a CELL PHONE. It's one of those items people buy and sell all kind of ways and it's frequently an item of dispute in a domestic situation. Why do you think it's never been taken that seriously, only if you were robbed. People LOSE stuff all the time and scream it was STOLEN. I guess now it's a big deal and they're trying to handle things a little better, but if I walk up to a cop and say I was at the bar and someone stole my cell phone, they're not calling for backup, hopefully you'll get a police report. I'm not telling you what I think, I'm telling you what I've been through when my iPhone 4 was stolen.

I understand how its a good thing for the found phone being locked. I dont understand why such a blind support for these dumb phones.

They're cartoony. My kid has one which is why I'm here, I would never use one due to being an adult. But I digress, her screen got cracked so I purchased one from a guy I work with. She activated it and all that but before adding it to the service plan she got in trouble so I took it and she was left using the cracked phone.

I wanted to let her have it back but was going to add a couple apps to limit usage and block websites I found on the app store. Before I did that I attempted a erase to load the backup from the phone she is currently using. However when I attempted to use her account to activate the phone it tells me I cant.

I had turned off the find my phone on the paperweight before restart and then her current phone. And since went and released it from the account.

I still cannot do anything with it. The Apple ID worked before the restart. Was using it just fine. Activated before but now it doesn't work.

How can the apple sheep justify that? Is that my fault instead of Apple's like the trend seems to be in here blaming everyone except the ones responsible....

Not trolling, but you got on Brian:

But I've reread this 5 times and I don't see where exactly " I stated that the guy at works stuff had already been cleared" in your original post.

I realize it was a long post but i stated twice that the phone was cleared and she was already using her ID on it. I stated it twice in hopes to avoid the "talk to the guy you bought it from" replies. I had hoped emphasizing it a couple times would relieve me from those responses and open up discussion for a possible solution. Stating it a couple times that she was already using her Apple ID on the phone and all.

If I seem frustrated its because I am. I should've just bought her an android. They work.

was it to obscure of a statement in my original post? ? You made the sentence before the first quote bold. How'd you miss it?

Dec 16, 2014 5:01 PM in response to omgitssodumb

The phone can be activated by switching SIMs without triggering Activation Lock. If you are trying to Restore the phone and it is triggering the Activation Lock display is it showing your daughters Apple ID (first initial, asterisks, etc.) or something else? If it is asking for hers and it isn't working call AppleCare, ask to be transferred to the Account Security team and work it out.

I'm 64 and use an iPhone.

More apps? Wrong.. thats propaganda... Surely you mean more that cost money to download. Its relatively close as for total number of apps.

If you enjoy buying every app that's cool.

And as far as your security goes.. what are you trying to hide? You on sites you shouldn't be? Your service provider and Apple sells your info anyhow and turns it in to the government regardless of what they tell you. Nothing is private anymore.

Usually only hipsters and kids pretend iPhone is good and enjoyable. And most adults who switch to android question why they ever had an iPhone.

Wrong....that's propaganda. 😉

No one here cares which phone platform you decide to use. And, no one is particularly interested in being "converted". Those of us who also chose to use Android phones already know the benefits and disadvantages of the OS. This is a technical support forum, not a place for sectarian debate.

Best of luck.

None of my posts were propaganda.. I have a technical issue created by Apple and was seeking knowledge.

Yet I guess I'm not allowed to reply to people who get smug with me. Considering I am a customer due to my kid the moderators here regardless of my opinion of iPhone should be fair and if they delete my replies they should also delete the smug posts directed at me
