Bluetooth pairing the Nike Fuelband SE to Iphone 5?

Is anyone having issues bluetooth pairing the Nike Fuelband SE to Iphone 5? I have tried restarting both devices, waiting until the band is charged fully, maybe my band is defective? I even factory reset my Fuelband SE and it still wont pair, my Iphone will pair with my kindle so I know it's working.

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.3

These people who get the solution to work can they confirm that,

1. The device is a Fuel Band SE

2. The device shows up in the iPhone Bluetooth settings page

3. Finally before the fix was the device not detected in the Bluetooth settings page on the iPhone.

I've tried the fix and the app tells me to go to settings and pair the device which is still not detected by the iPhone

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hello everybody.

My experience was the same as the other's ones, nothing was working.

With those last updated things i ve read here, it still doesn't work with my iphone, which might be an iphone4 and not an iphone4s (i am not sure-it was given to me, but will check it).

But it works on the ipad (3).

both have ios7, probably it does not depend on the operating system.

so, i think i may say that those steps, restore, walk a few steps and blah blah, are working fine. it took only a second to the ipad to sync to the band.

i do feel sorry it does not work for my iphone though....

Got it working used the instructions from adrianapep91

But initially it still failed so I :

1 reinstalled windows 8 completely

2 deleted the app from the phone

3 deleted my nike account

4 redid my nike account with explorer no antivirus

5 downloaded nike connect and installed on PC

6 plugged in band and reset it to factory conditions

7 reinstalled the app on the phone

8 logged in to the band with my new account and set it up

9 turned on bluetooth on the phone and ignored it trying to discover

10 opened the app on the phone and logged in

11 disconnected the band from PC

12 waved band about to make it add a few steps

13 the app detected the band

14 checked bluetooth settings on the phone and it has joined to the band

This method works I'm not sure if chrome or Firefox fudge the process up so use explorer

I just daren't turn off my phone now ;)

You definitely don't need to reinstall Windows. Follow these steps from Nike's email:

We recently discovered an issue that prevented a small percentage of Nike+ FuelBand SE users from syncing via the FuelBand iOS app. We fixed this issue so you can connect your FuelBand to our iOS mobile app. Simply follow the steps below and you’ll be on your way:

Completely close the Nike+ FuelBand mobile app on your iOS device. Double-click the Home button, then either click the “X” on the app icon (iOS 6) or swipe the app preview up (iOS 7).

Plug your Nike+ FuelBand into your computer. Wait for your NikeFuel to sync and then perform a factory reset.

  • PC users: Click Here
  • Mac users: Click Here
  • Unplug the Nike+ FuelBand from your computer and walk a few steps to earn a bit of NikeFuel.
  • Open your Nike+ FuelBand mobile app and navigate to the home screen of the app.
  • Check that your Bluetooth icon is solidly lit. Walk a few steps with your Nike+ FuelBand to earn a little bit more NikeFuel and watch your NikeFuel total increase.

  • If you've already tried these steps and are still unable to sync using the app, repeat the steps above. Feel free to contact us here Nike+ Support and we’ll take the next steps together.

I finally got my SE to work with the latest instructions.

I have the SE and both an iPhone 4S and 5. Before trying the fix, the SE would never show up on the list of Bluetooth devices on either phone. The app on both phones would search and never sync with the SE.

So after resetting the SE as instructed and closing the app on my iPhone 5, I took a couple of steps (6 fuel points), then opened the app and voila, it recognized the SE in a few seconds and updated my fuel points on the app to 3056. The SE also now shows up as a Bluetooth device on the iPhone 5. The SE still showed 6 points though, so I plugged it back into my Mac and it updated the points on the SE to 3058 (I guess I earned a few points just sitting there). 🙂

So then I tried to sync the SE with my iPhone 4S and it didn't work. Couldn't sync with the fuel app or show up as a device on the bluetooth list. So I did the factory reset again, took a few steps, generating 4 points, then reopened the app on the 4S and again, voila, it synced and showed up as a bluetooth device!!!!

So it seems that if you want to pair the SE with an iPhone for the first time after you do the factory reset, the SE has to have a few fuel points as if you were using it for the very first time.

After this second reset, I plugged the SE back into my Mac to update the fuel points on the SE band.

Now it syncs with both phones and updates my points normally on the app.

Hope this helps others to get their SE to sync.

I have not been able to pair my iPhone 5 with the Fuelband SE. Was able to sporadically at first, now nothing. I have tried all of the following with no success (I did a combination of some of these fixes in the order recommended in other posts):

    Created a new Nike+ account

    Factory reset the Fuelband

Deleted the Fuelband app and reinstalled

    Restored my iPhone

Toggled between bluetooth availability to test detection of the Fuelband

Tried the method of factory reset to the Fuelband, then log some fuel points, plug in to USB, then attempt bluetooth connection--nothing.

Really frustrated, considering I returned the previous generation Fuelband since the SE was supposed to have better bluetooth capabilities. One interesting detail is my iPad 3rd Generation detects the Fuelband. Leads me to believe that the issue is on Nike's end, maybe a firmware update is needed (I read here that this has been done, but it hasn't worked with my phone).

After you do the factory reset and accumulate a few fuel points, you should not plug back into the USB on your PC or Mac, but immediately try a sync with your iPhone. For some odd reason for the initial sync, it will only sync if you only have a few fuel points on the band. I was able to sync with both an Iphome 5 and 4S this way. Once mine synced for that first time, then I plugged back into the USB to update the fuel points for the day on my SE. Now my SE syncs immediately whenever I open the app on either the 5 or 4S.

Quick question for those who are able to sync. Is the Bluetooth connection supposed to be persistent (BT symbol on iPhone always on while app is open in background?). I feel like before 2.0.1 it would act more like the fit bit and only connect to BT when the app was initially opened. Anyone experiencing this persistent connection? Isn't the whole point of BT 4.0 to have short connections that automatically connect and disconnect without wasting battery?

Nov 11, 2013 4:51 AM in response to mcostajr

My BT on the iPhone5 finally connected with the Fuelband, so there's some good news. Can't say what fixed the issue in the end, maybe a firmware update on Nike's end. Anyway, about the BT connection. As far as I can tell, the BT is constantly connected (the BT symbol remains in bold). When I have the app open and I'm moving around, the Fuel points are constantly increasing. With the previous Fuelband you would swipe down to refresh and the BT symbol would blink when connection was reestablished. Maybe more battery is used for this type of communication compared to a constant link, who knows.

I've tried everything in this thread (several times), and nothing's worked. My FuelBand SE stopped syncing / pairing with my iPhone 4S once I (mistakenly) logged out of the FuelBand iOS app and logged back in. Argh.

Finally submitted a very lengthy & detailed "bug" report to Nike with everything I've tried, when the problem arose, etc. — will let you know if I get any new info that hasn't already been posted here.

just had the same issue while starting up a new fuelband. at first it updated a firmware connected to a computer. as this is my second fuelband, i have tried to connect it to my iphone 5 the usual way by presing button on the fuelband. WRONG. While trying to make a connection via iphone bluetooth meniu also nothing happened. I read it here that you should connect through the app automaticly. i did. of course both bluetooths should be on. Yahoo!
