Ipod Touch 4th gen 6.1.3 can't download podcasts. Can't download podcasts app.

Just got a new refurbished Ipod 4th gen with IOS 6.1.3. It works fine.

It can't download podcasts because it doesn't have the podcasts app.

It can't download the podcasts app because you have to have IOS 7 to download the podcasts app.

IOS 6.1.3 is the highest version that the Ipod Touch 4G supports.

Podcasts are the only reason I bought this tiny screen POS.

iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 6.1.3

I received this response from tech support:

"I understand that you would like to download Podcast on your iPod 4th generation. I know how eager you are to use Podcast and I will surely look into it. Please be informed that the Podcast is compatible with iOS7 alone. There is nothing we can do for it. I encourage you to use the iTunes Feedback page to submit your comments."

So there you go. "There is nothing we can do"

I would argue that a primary function of an iPod is to download and play podcasts. THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE NOW.

I seriously don't understand why anyone would buy an Apple device with this kind of support.

Thank you! tried the other options. Apple have obviously upgraded, I couldn't down load the podcast app to my PC, as it recognised that my Ipod was too old! But Podbay loaded in seconds and I've subscribed to 2 podcasts. As this was the main reason for buying an ipod (went for second hand as I'm not into tech) was a bit frustrated to say the least!

This is a frustrating oversight on Apple's part but I have found a solution that worked for me. The Podcasts app no longer shows up in the App Store App on the iPod touch because it is no longer compatible. As people stated earlier, you have to download it on your computer first, then use SAFARI on the iPod touch to Google the Podcasts app in the app store. A link should come up which will redirect you to the App Store app and allow you to download an earlier version of it through the cloud as people said earlier. I'm assuming this would work for any discontinued apps that you can no longer find for the iPod touch. Until they phase out Safari as well I suppose... Apple seems to have gone into a complete nosedive in the last few years. I don't expect I'll purchase any more products from them thanks to such blatant planned obsolescence. Not the way to keep a decade-long customer happy.

Does anyone have a solution that still works?

I tried to download the Pocasts App withing iTunes but it says:

Podcasts is only available on iOS.

To get Podcasts, search for it on the App Store on your iOS device

Well, NO DUH! I'm not trying to use it on Android or Windows or something! I'm just trying to trick iTunes into getting the current version which will allow me to get the old version on my old iOS 6.1.3 device.

Ipod Touch 4th gen 6.1.3 can't download podcasts. Can't download podcasts app.
