Transferring printer settings - presets, etc.
I've added a new iMac to my home office, and I have two printers which I use extensively; one for general office stuff, the other for display quality photographs.
When I had only one computer I hooked both of them up through a USB hub to the iMac. Over the last year or so I've made quite a number of detailed printer setups for the wide variety of materials and print jobs I do on a regular basis.
When the new iMac arrived, I decided to plug the USB hub in to my Time Capsule so that both computers would have access to the printers through the network. No problem there; both computers see and can print to both printers.
The problem is with my carefully made presets. I thought that because the printers are the same as they always were, just being accessed in a different place, my presets would be usable. No! OS X insists that I add both printers as new -- which I've done -- and I can't find any way to transfer all of my presets to the "new" printers.
I could go through and copy down all of the various parameters I have set and re-do them, but that seems like more work than should be necessary. I thought about editing the printer config files of the "old" printers to reflect their new access point, but not sure how to go about that.
Any ideas or workarounds would be appreciated before I decide to bite the bullet and recreate all of those presets by hand!
