Today my Apple Mail no longer provides me with my gMail in the inbox.
I can send mail to my gMail address and it shows in the Sent box ...but it never makes it to my Inbox.
If I log directly into Google Mail the email message is there.
This has always worked before.
Also, just now I downloaded and installed the Apple update for Mail ...which said it fixes some gMail account issues ..but I still have the problem.

Should add that I just noticed the email came back into the Inbox just now.

Still behaving strangely. Another test had a message go into the Archive folder after a while (all on its own) and a third test message never showed up or went to who knows where.

1. Yah, not getting rid of gmail. An absourd solution. I use it for any signups that may result in unwanted spam, their filtering is decent. It is not used for any business (other than subscriptions again) or personal messages.
2. My preference is to have one application and not multiple. 😮
It really is unfortunate that things do "just work" like they used to. Quality of applications is definately becoming an issue over the last couple of years. 😟
I have no issues with Gmail in Mail (I keep a test account just to see how far from being a real Imap account Gmail is now)
But with nothing important going through Gmail all my objections to it vanish.
Airmail is quite good all round, not just with Gmail, try it out, it may work as a Mail replacement for you.
Airmail works fine with Gmail, no need to get rid of Gmail.

I was replying to your earlier post where you said "Get rid of Gmail". I missed your follow up where you say you have no issues with Gmail.
As one of the available choices it's valid, but it is a choice.
How do you get Activity from the Window menu to stay open. It runs thru so fast I can't see what it's doing. If I could see it there might be a hint as to what's up with mail going to the wrong box.
It stays open until I close it, its been that way (for me) from 10.6 to 10.9.
It stays open but what comes in disappears almost immediately. I know some of my smpt outgoing servers don't work and I cant figure out why. Thought this moght help see why but can't read it fast enuf.
I have no issues anymore with Mail gmail after the update 10.9.1.
I must say however that the issues before may have been from the settings in gmail website were not exactly compatible with those in Mail.app.
I tested several alternatives, Airmail is OK, Postbox a bit better even. But here Mail is working correctly now.
