iPad Air - Rotation lock not working

(A) Reset iPad

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

(B) Reset all settings

Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings

You probably have your switch set to be used for mute instead of rotation lock. Click on the setting and when in that screen select general look in the right hand side panel. Setting > General. > USE SWITCH TO: select the "Lock Rotation" option.

I am seeing the same issue. The side switch is set to "mute", and the screen lock is off. I opened up a compass app and it seemed to take about 5 seconds to turn on the motion sensors. Once they came on, rotation worked. I suspect the motion sensors aren't waking from sleep. Definitely a bug.

Same issue on an iPad Air.

When I turn it off, then back on the screen rotation resets. This is happening pretty consistently on 7.0.3

I am also having the same issue. I was hoping that upgrading to 7.0.4 would solve the issue, but that's not the case. I am quite disappointed with the plethora of bugs iOS 7 has - never really thought Apple would release a product with so many issues...

Happens to me on my iPad Air as well. Haven't had this problem on my original mini or iPhone 5. All are running iOS 7.04. Turning it off/on fixes it for a while but it happens about every 2 days. Annoying.

I just bought an ipad air on Black Friday and am having this same problem. I do not have this issue on my ipad 3. Come on Apple get this bug fixed!

Eventually the app is bugged and it would not rotate and after a while the OS just froze and restarted! iPad Air is the buggiest piece of crap that I've ever used. Why did I buy this thing! It's buggier than early cheap-*** Android phones.

Hi guys, I am facing pretty much the same problem.

iPad air, brand new, three days after purchase update to iOS 7.0.4

No any response to screen rotation. Screen is frozen to portrait. I did check all the things mentioned above (mute switch, control bar, etc.) Lock switch is OFF!

I reset it for a hundred times which did not solve anything.

Is it possible that this buggy, crappy update killed the motion sensors?

Very unsatisfied, already regret that I bought that thing!

I am also having this issue. About once a week my iPad Air refuses to rotate the view (rotation lock is off).

It can be resolved in my case by turning iPad off/on, until it happens again. Bit of a nuicence for such an expensive device, seems to be software issue given that restart fixes it?

has anyone else found out about the issue weather its a software or hardware? i am having the exact same issure only had it for 5 days nows

I am having the exact same issue with my rotation getting stuck in landscape mode. I have checked and rechecked all my settings and they are fine. My only fix is to power off then back on. Would love to know if this is a software or hardware issue. Tracy
