You can't actually install software designed for one operating system (Windows 7 or 8) and install it onto another device that has a completely different operating system (iOS 7). If you can, try to connect to your computer at work via remote desktop. There are apps available to do this (some require a monthly fee though, like Splashtop).

Even with a Surface or something running a Windows OS, I'd be be sure to check carefully if a specific windows program will run. Especially if it is some 3rd party proprietary tool that relies on IE and Active X controls or something highly specific like that (NET frameworks for example), it may well not run on anything buy a Windows computer, and not on any tablet.

Hi,

I just sent the following post in italics below) to someone else, so I copied it to your post.

You can install the program you need for work on your home computer (Mac or Windows) and use it on your ipad. If you're in a small firm, you might be able to install Jump Desktop on your office computer and the ipad or other tablet and control it on your ipad when you're out of your office.

There are many apps like pages, numbers, documents to go, etc. Many are very happy with them, but others have said here that their formats are changed in translation.

If you have a laptop or desktop, you might want to consider Jump Desk (Remote Desktop.) It's in the (itunes) app store. It lets you work with whatever programs you have on yor computer directly on your ipad. So if you have MS Office, for example, you can work on a document in MS Word, a spreadsheet with Excel, etc.on your ipad. Changes will be saved to your computer.

If you go to jumpdesktop.com, there is a free 14 day trial. If you're happy with it, you can then buy it in the itunes app store. Read pro tech and user reviews. They're very good. In the App store, go to categries across top, then click on business, then under Top Paid and Top Grossing, you'll see it Jump Desktop. There are very good user reviews there. There's also Microsoft Remote Desktop there for free but I don't like the reviews as much. However, it's free so you might want to try that.

Hope this helps.
