Usding Seperate Libraries

My wife had been happily using iTunes to manage her music library on her iPod. All was going well until I got my iPad. I wanted to use Itunes, but did not want our music collections to mix. We have different tastes in music! After reading advice I chose to open a new library for myself, I clicked on “Shift” before opening iTunes, chose to “Create a new library” and did so. Unfortunately iTunes now opens in my library and my wife is no longer able to “Sync” her iPod. I understand if I hold down Shift when I open iTunes I should get the choice as to which library to open. Unfortunately I don’t, iTunes simply opens. I don’t know if I, inadvertently chose the same name for the new library as the original? Could this cause my problem?

I hope somebody can advise me how I can get back to my wife’s library, as she would like to make changes to her iPod and is currently unable. I would happily delete my library!
