Facebook update not updating

I am trying to update to the new Facebook Update, Version: 6.7.1

I have a few updates all come in at once tonight (November 8th at 9pm) However the other 4 apps updated but when I try to update Facebook, it tells me "Unable to Download App. "Facebook" could not be downloaded at this time."

I have shut off anf back on my IPHONE 5. I have signed in and out of my itunes account.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also having this issue.

Tried deleting and re-installing, but get same error. When deleting and re-installing app downloads from "purchased" as expected and looks like it is installing (indicator moves), but then app requests authentication and app fails to download.

Both hard and soft restarted phone, no effect.

To solve the issue you can do this :

- delete the dark Facebook icon from your device.

- run App Store and search for the app you have bought, scroll the list and you can download Facebook from the cloud.

I downloaded again ver 6.6

- do not attempt any update to 6.7.1 till Facebook will not solve the problem otherway the download will be corrupted again and you will get a dark icon and a not working app.

Hope this helps.

Hi Bizio61,

You are right i see the cloud symbol.

But I can't download it and I get the same "unable to download" error message.

I'll just skip the update for the meantime.

Many people of different countries are having the same issue. My friends in Asia and the US both have said they had the same issue. So I guess it all ebbs from the App Store. So facebook will have to fix it 🙂

Chill everyone! 😝

Meanwhile, i'll be staying on FB ios v6.7

okay, same problem here. i tried all of the suggestions; however, to no avail. finally... i went into itunes. once in itunes i clicked on "apps" and located the earlier version of facebook. then, i manually (with mouse) clicked on the facebook app listed and dragged it to "jen's iphone" listed un "devices." i liken it to dragging a file to another location/folder. so, this was all done in itunes. also, i did delete the facebook app that was not loading. i now have version 6.6 up and running on my iphone. i don't know if this is important to note or not, but i will...i have an iphone 4s, so i don't know if this same "technique" will have the same results with other iphone versions. good luck.

1) make sure that the "new" version and/or the "whatever" version of facebook that won't load is deleted from your iphone. at this point, you now do not have any app for facebook on your iphone.

2) plug iphone into the computer.

3) click on itunes (will likely sync automatically, just wait until completed).

4) once in itunes you will see 5 major headings on the left hand side (i.e., library, store, devices, genius, and playlists); however, these headings may vary depending on preferences, but i think most will have those five listed.

5) locate "library," and under library is a list of things in your itunes library (i.e., music, movies, tv shows, podcasts, audiobooks, and the most important---apps). this list may vary depending on what is in your library.

6) locate "devices," and under there (if your phone is plugged in) you should see your name and iphone (e.g., mary's iphone).

6) locate "apps" listed under the heading "library."

at this point, your phone is plugged into the computer, itunes is up/open, and you have located "apps" on the left hand side and also see "devices" listed, and under devices, the name of your iphone.

7) click once on "apps" - at this point you will see your apps listed, including your facebook app. locate the facebook app.

8) do **not** 'click' but DRAG the facebook app to your iphone listed under devices. (e.g., drag the facebook app to "mary's iphone").

at that point, facebook should automatically start to load on your iphone. if it doesn't press sync.

i did this and now have 6.6 (older version) of facebook now back on my iphone.

of note: i had deleted my facebook app from my library in itunes (was trying anything, even not so bright things). so, in order to get my original facebook back, i went into my "trash" folder and transferred it back into my app in itunes.

okay, that's all i got. tried to be clear. hope it works out for some of you.
