Facebook update not updating

I am trying to update to the new Facebook Update, Version: 6.7.1

I have a few updates all come in at once tonight (November 8th at 9pm) However the other 4 apps updated but when I try to update Facebook, it tells me "Unable to Download App. "Facebook" could not be downloaded at this time."

I have shut off anf back on my IPHONE 5. I have signed in and out of my itunes account.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also having this issue.

Tried deleting and re-installing, but get same error. When deleting and re-installing app downloads from "purchased" as expected and looks like it is installing (indicator moves), but then app requests authentication and app fails to download.

Both hard and soft restarted phone, no effect.

Honestly, I wonder if this doesn't have to do with the privacy settings being removed... I had the same issue as the people here.

For the past week, everytime I was browsing the site on a PC, I had refused to select the acknoledgement of the privacy changes. I loved my profile being private and unsearchable

The update (not a brand new install) of FB kept on crashing on my Iphone 5 over the weekend.

Until... I went on a PC and clicked on the"I undertsand" pop up that didn't want to go way this time and was making the browsing of the website impossible.

Guess what... my profile, that used to be private, turned into public and the Iphone update worked fine this time. Suckers!

So, I can now update and use FB on my Iphone.

As my profile is now fully public, I have no choice but to delete the app and close my account.

For those of you who did not accept the privacy change, it was probably done in your back by batch over the weekend, which could explain why even if you didn't agree to anything, as you were forced to, then it is now working.

Long story short, even though my theory is probably not the thruth, I am leaving facebook!

Ciao,

A ex-facebook user

Looks like Facebook is sleeping from Nov 8th, when so many users are affected. There is no mention on appology from Apple/Facebook.

Why should Apple apologize for another company's problems? The App Store is working fine. It's the FACEBOOK app that has issues.

Does Microsoft apologize if your XBox game's DLC is not working properly or glitching? Or do you talk to the developer of the GAME?

Is it not apple responsibility to test an app before releasing on App Store ? Atleast the basic download and installation works fine or not ?? For paid apps they anyway take the royalty!

The App worked fine when it was first launched on to the App store. The UPDATES that Facebook provides are having issues. Apple is most definitely communicating with Facebook, 'encouraging' them to fix their issue.

Have you tried going directly to Facebook using Safari?

Have you tried to update or reinstall the App using iTunes?

Does the rest of the App Store work? Can you donwload or update other Apps? Then it's not an Apple-side issue. It's a Facebook-side issue.

If Safari can go to 100+ websites, but one website keeps crashing or won't load, is that a fault of Safari or of that particular website? Basic troubleshooting logic. While there is always a small possibility it is Safari in that case, the most logical assumption is there is an issue with the single website. Look for a fix THERE first.

You're trying to replace the entire car just because one tire is flat.

Here is how you can fix the issues IF you have not put this bad update onto your computer.....

1st going into your iTunes folder, copy the clean safe Facebook app to a folder outside of the iTunes folder.

2nd Deleted the bad Facbeook app from your iOS device.

3rd Synce your iOS device to itunes. now its possible that Itunes will auto reinstall the clean safe copy.

4th if Itunes does not re-install the clean safe copy, Then delet Facebook from Itunes and have the synce process run to insure that is not on the iOS device.

5th go to the safe backup copy and make a copy of it and place it back into the iTune Folder.

6th while still in the folder tell prompt the Facebook app to open in iTunes

7th go to itunes and re-add the Facebook app to your iOS device.

These are the steps I did to clear it from my iOS device, I can't say that this will work for everyone, however this was my solution to the issue.
