Home sharing now not working with Apple TV 6.0.1/ iTunes 11.1.3.8

It was stupid of me to accept my Apple TV's notice of a new upgrade, which I accepted, and it is now version 6.0.1. I upgraded my iTunes to 11.1.3.8. Now my Apple TV doesn't recognize my Home Sharing with my computer. I've reset the Apple TV to download the latest software again, and still nothing. Before the update everything was fine. This is not some Windows 8/firewall/network issue. This is an Apple TV/iTunes/Home Share issue. I have restarted Home Sharing multiple times in iTunes with my account without any success. Please help. Thanks.

Prior to reading guitarsonmars' post, I got ATV Home Sharing working again last year by using an Ethernet cable (direct connection) to my router, but could never get Home Sharing to work on any device (ATV or IOS) via wifi.

Disabling TCP/IPv6 did the trick to connect via wifi for all devices!

Use the same fix on the Windows 8.1 machine where your iTunes library is running -- simply un-check TCP/IPv6 in the properties for your NIC and restart iTunes. Immediate results!

None of this has worked for me 😟 pain in the arse. The instructions above don't work for me because I have an updated version of Mac software. Any more ideas on how to fix the sharing issue?

It didn't work for me, either, until I restarted my Apple TV. Go to Settings on your Apple TV and scroll all the way down. Be sure you do a Restart, not a Reset. Before I did that, just to be safe I did this:

I turned off my Apple TV
Turned off Home Sharing in iTunes
Turned off then turned on (restarted) my network router
Restarted iTunes
Turned on Home Sharing in iTunes
Turned on my Apple TV and Restarted it

Now it works.
