I know how to set the view options for each Finder window (text size, sorting, etc.), but is there a way to apply these setting to every Finder window I will open in the future? If so, how?
For example if I change the settings to what I want and click the "Use as Default" box, it only make them the default for that paricular window - not any other.

Try single quotes around the term: '.DS_Store'. As for the semicolon, that shouldn't matter.

Can't help since I don't deal with nfs servers. You might try isconnecting from the server and trying again.
I've been searching for hours on how to do this in El Capitan and this fixed it !
Some folders were set to 10pt others were set to 12pt.

I can't help, since I only use list view and always hide the sidebar, which I find intrusive. Maybe someone else can help.
sorry but this...does not work in either Yosemite or El Capitan...different comps installment.
