Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

My Macbook Pro ran out of battery last night and wouldn't turn back on even when connected to power for a period of time. However, when I woke up, it did turn on. Is there a reason this happened and should I get it looked at?

Last night, I was watching something on my Macbook Pro and it died (out of battery). I went to plug it in and waited a couple of minutes to try and start it back up. However, when I connected the power source the light was green, which could not have been the case since I know 100% it was out of battery. I proceeded to hold the start button for a long period of time, but my computer made no noise and refused to turn on - it looked like for all intensive purposes it was dead. I left it alone overnight praying that it would be alright in the morning and luckily, when I opened the computer this morning it was restarted and fine. I'm concerned because I've had this happen to me a couple of times and while it always turns back on, I feel like there is a bigger issue that I need to get addressed. Can anyone help me with this? Any ideas? Thank you!

Jeff, beautiful MBA! But a lot that is on it that I have not (or never) seen often, and some that I do not like.

1. when possible uninstall everything Rim/Blackberry and android: these are not too well compatible.

2. I am not really knowledgeable with Bluestacks / uHD-agent, but I suspect it is better when gone.

3. Update Java: the new version has the settings field where you can set the sites that are allowed.

4. I am certain, that you do not need all the "Adobe" items: in the SSD / Library / InternetPlugins folder delete the two Adobe PDFViewer plugins, the standard Safari plugins are as good or better.

5. When you do not need the Paragon NTFS driver, uninstall it. It is compatible, but when you do not need it, let it go.

6. Then there is another item I am not familiar with: Transmit (com.panic.transmitdisk.transmitdfs kext): I do not like non-apple apps that put in kexts. It may or may not really compatible. If you ever go to Mavericks, uninstall this app before you do.

7. I am also not familiar with VZAccess, I can not imagine that you need that to do more than MLion., So uninstall seems good.

8. SystemPreferences/Users&Groups/LogmeinItems: I would remove (with the minus sign underneath) the iTunesHelper (no problem but you do not need it continuously), uHDAgent (either uninstall that or at least use it manually), Android (should be gone after uninstall), AdobeResourceSynchronizer, vzwwirelessd (if it is still there).

9. I suppose Jungle backup is compatible. I don't know it.

All in all: not really bad, but a bit off side from "normal".

Restart after taking action, and make a new list.

Ok here is the new one. I cant remove vzaccessmanager its for my usb 4g modem. I'm all for a minimal usabe install so I went thru both plist folers and removed anything that I felt no longer applied. I thought I had gotten rid of all the teamviewer plists but its still there?

Thanks, Jeff

I can't see that running the battery till it shuts down is going to harm anything in your macbook, at a certain power level it will shut itself down and there is still a reserve in the battery to keep everything safe.

Then you are way out of date, that would be an appropriate thing for a NiCad battery, about ten years sgo.

Good work: see what it did for you in "virtual memory information" in the list!

1. Teamviewer: download the Appcleaner app (free), drag the teamviewer icon on it form the applications folder: self explanatory. Maybe you have to reinstall the Teamviewer again to do this.

2. Rim is still there: to remove use the Appcleaner app. If it is gone already, just remove the kext: go to SSD/Library/Extensions/ folder and delete com.rim.driver.BlackBerryUSBDriverInt (be careful there).

3. Bluestacks: go to username(jeff)/Library/InternetPlugins/ folder and delete the BlueStacks entry.

4. Paragon ? go to SSD /Library/LaunchAgents/ folder and delete the com.paragon.updater.plist .

5. Monolingual ? go to SSD /Library/LaunchDaemons/ and delete the net.sourceforge.MonolingualHelper.plist .

Restart.

TV 8 came with an uninstaller located in the TV App directory in Applications. I use TV 9 which does not (as far as I can find) include an uninstaller. I would consult TV, they are extremely helpful.

FYI

I find files related to TV 9 in these 2 locations (other than the Applications folder)

MacintoshHd>Library>LaunchAgents>TeamViewer etc. delete all

MacintoshHd>Library>LaunchDaemons>TeamViewer etc. delete all

There are 2 files in the LaunchAgents folder and 1 in the LaunchDaemons folder,, TV also appears in the User login list (System Preferences>Users and Groups)

SSD /Library with a LaunchAgents folder and a LaunchDaemons folder and a InternetPlugins folder in it.

SSD /System/Library with a LaunchAgents folder and a LaunchDaemons folder and a InternetPlugins folder in it.

Hi Lex,

I'm well thanks, how are you?

For my install of TV 8 and 9 there were no TV files in MacintoshHD (SSD)>System>Library, but as ever YMMV.
