Spam learning in ML server?
Hi,
Does anyone know if ML server has the spam learning ability like SL server does where you set up "junk" and "notjunk" accounts to send the appropriate messages to?
Thanks,
Scott

The Junk will be delivered to the user with the subject changed to add ***Junk*** and an x-header inserted identifying it as spam, and the viruses quarantined on the server and automatically deleted after a certain time.
The logs are in /var/log.

Hmm... so I looked in those logs and can't find any indication that any spam learing has been done, at least using the "junkmail" as a search term.
Do you know how to tell in these logs specifically if the spam learing is taking place?
Thanks,
Scott
Apparently, spamassassin isn't logging, or if it is, I can't find it.
Try this to see if it is running...
launchctl list | grep salearn
It should return
- 0 com.apple.salearn
if it is loading it at launch.
-Cameron
If I run that in terminal, it doesn't do anything:
Last login: Thu Nov 14 10:20:59 on ttys000
prepress:~ server2$ launchctl list | grep salearn
prepress:~ server2$
Does this mean it's not on?
It is on in my launchctl. I didn't even realize it. So, it looks like it is turned off in yours.
The plist you are looking to load is at
/Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.salearn.plist
so you would use
launchctl load -w
/Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.salearn.plist
and that should start the service. Look through the plist file and the perl script that it references and try to understand what it is doing, so if things don't work, you have a better chance of figuring them out.
For some reason it didn't show the whole line... I'll break it in two...
/Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/System
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.salearn.plist
I was breaking it between -w and /Applications and it didn't work, so I made it one line and now I get:
Last login: Fri Nov 15 17:47:48 on ttys000
prepress:~ server2$ launchctl list | grep salearn
- 0 com.apple.salearn
So I guess it's all set? Anything I should do?
Thanks!
Scott
It is running now. Just monitor the server and mail to see if there is evidence that it is working.
Thanks so much for all your help!
Hi again,
So I looked at the logs this morning, and I couldn't find any indication that any learning or anything happened at 2:15 AM. Do you know what I should be looking for?
I ran this again:
Last login: Fri Nov 15 18:31:09 on ttys000
prepress:~ server2$ launchctl list | grep salearn
- 1 com.apple.salearn
Does the 1 instead of the zero mean anything?
Thanks,
Scott
I don't know if or where the spamassassin processes log their activity. Also, not sure what the 1 denotes.
