Is it downgrade or upgrade?

Hi,

First of all I am sorry for my bad English I am still learning.

I would like to ask a few question about my old MBP.

Currently I am using Early 2011 MBP with 16gb ram. I7 2,7ghz, No SSD. I am mostly happy about it. I am using Windows7 aswell with bootcamp. And the battery is still OK. Sometimes I am using photoshop,lightroom for editing couple of photos.

I have been watching macbook air for last 2 years to get it. Now the new MBA came out with haswell.

I am thinking to buy I7 1.7ghz 8gb ram with 256gb ssd.

So that is the question,

If I buy MBA with I7 1.7ghz 8gb ram and 256ssd would it be downgrade or upgrade? (compare to early2011 MBP I7 2.7ghz 16gb ram no SSD)

if buying MBA is upgrade what if I will buy 256gb ssd to my old macbook pro?

Which one will be faster? MBA I7 1.7ghz 256gb ssd or early 2011MBP 16gb ram I7 2,7ghz with 256gb ssd.
