Maverick and HP Printer 8600 - Solution from HP

This is the solution for conflicts with Maverick and HP Printer 8600 from HP. Old software must be uninstalled as per the directions. I posted to the HP forums and received an answer withing 24 hrs.

I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with your Officejet Pro 8600 Plus since upgrading to Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

I have included a link to the full feature software and driver for your Officejet Pro 8600 Plus for Mavericks. I would recommend that you uninstall the printer and then re-install the printer with the full feature software and driver.

Thanks for the links - very useful. But I have the 8600 plus and did not have any issues so far. What issues were you having?

I had the Plus as well. This is for all Officejet 8600"s. My printer que wouldn't advance to the next job. It was spinning on the first job and PDF files all showed up black. I saw that others had the problems with scanning. This worked and now everything is working.

Found the solution to the problem. By using the scroll bars around the image which I was saving as a .pdf file, the new Acrobat puts boxes to approve on the document when it is not sure if it came from a "Trusted Site." It considered my printer an unsafe site. By clicking on the box on the bottom of the page and then scrolling up and over for the second box at the top and assuring the scanned document was from a safe "site', i.e. my printer, and then scrolling back down the scanned page to the box where the .pdf file now has buttons fro print, save, scroll up or down, etc,, I clicked on the save button and it then brought up a separate Finder window asking where I wanted to save - which folder like desktop or documents, the usual window you get when you go to save a file!

Unfortunately the image preview box is so small, I did not see all those when I went to save the document until I scrolled around!

This worked for me!
