deleting photos

I want to delete all the photos on my iPad.2


Have connected the iPad to my iMac via iTunes, but when I click on the iPad link on the left hand side and 'photos' in the tool bar, there is no 'delete' as far as I can see, only 'sync'


Please tell me the staps necessary to remove all photos.
