Near Duplicate Playlist is Created when Syncing with IPhone

Hi folks. When I sync my Iphone (IOS 7) with the latest ITunes I get a duplicate playlist created on my Iphone and in ITunes. Both lists are different. The newly created one is usually 3 or 4 songs larger than the original. For example my playlist titled "5 Star" has 458 songs on it. After syncing I get a new "5 Star 1" playlist and it has 461 songs! If I sync again I will get a "5 Star 2" playlist and it will be different than the other two! Where does the extra songs come from and which songs are they? Why is this happening and how can I stop it or determine which playlist is the one I want to hang onto?

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.3, ITunes (Latest and greatest)

I have just been deleting the extra playlists off. But I have been dealing with duplicate files from a computer upgrade so I haven't put much thought into the extra playlist's I just with it would be fixed. But with how they treat the Macbook people with the dead GPU that had paid over $2K I am doubting they will worry about us using free software.

I've been having the same issue everyone time I sync my iPhone with iTunes on my Macbook Pro. iTunes is creating a duplicate playlists and naming them, "Name of Playlist 1." I end up getting duplicates of all of my playlists and I have to manually delete them. It's annoying.

The other bug that's mind boggling si when you turn on iCloud and iTunes Match, all of your music will be replaced by Apple with a version of their choice. Your own music will be removed from your computer and placed in the trash bin. I don't why anyone with an existing personal library would ever choose this option given the correct information. The problem is Apple doesn't state this anywhere. To Apple's credit, they gave me an Apple USB Super Drive when I purchased my new Macbook Pro to rectify the problem.

It's unbelievable that Apple would let this issue go on for so long and replace personal music libraries with cloud versions and delete music that has been purchased by individuals who own the music. I don't think Steve Cook or any of the executives understand how important music is to their customers or else this would have been resolved a long time ago.

I have this problem too, however I found a really simple way to fix it : use Smart Playlists.

1) Create a regular playlist with the songs you want
2) Create a smart playlist (File > New > Smart Playlist)
3) Define the criteria :
"Playlist" + "is" + "name of the playlist you want"

That should do the trick. Note that you can play around with multiple criteria, wich I found very useful if you have a really large library. Have fun!

***The only problem with this approach is that you won't be able to change the playlist from your iOS devie, but you can still create a new playlist on your device and later merge it with the original playlist.

Hey Apple, I abandoned everything I knew and loved (including my FAR superior HTC One M9) for the SOLE purpose of making my music syncing easier.

This has been going on for several months now, and, based on your lack of a response, there is no end in site.

Might I suggest un-f*cking this problem relatively soon? I've already given up on the new Macbook. Let's not have my iPhone go the same way, eh?
