iTunes 11 sync problems with iPhone 5 and ios 7

I just installed itunes 11 and it iTunes will no longer sync with my iPhone 5. It would say that it was syncing and then the new files would not be transferred. I uninstalled and re-installed. All of my files were present in iTunes. I would try to sync again and now it tells me I need 500 MB of space to complete the sync I am only trying to sync 9 new songs. No way its 500 MB. Besides the bar at the bottom of itunes says I have 3.2 GB of space. Is anyone else having trouble with the new iTunes?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.3

I am having the same problems with my books .... I got the new ipad air ... and have spent the last 15 days trying to load all my books in. I have even gone so far as to replace the ipad with another one .. still the same problem.

I have re-installed iturnes ... re-installed the ibooks app .. made a new library ... and still the same ****.

I have spent weeks on the phone with Apple support at the level 3 tier .. still notta ...

*** APPLE !!! We pay good money for this. In the last 15 days .. you have updated IOS you have updated Itunes .. and you even went so far as to change the ibooks app. Still this happens.

As I told the Apple support person.... you wouldn't want to be paying my consulting rate for the hours I have spent needlessly trying to get this to work as well as the number of hours I have been on the phone with your support. Even your support doesn't know what to say!

Fix your **** !!!!

having pretty much the same issue. anything that i added to my itunes from cd's will not work on my phone either. i also have problems with several songs i've bought from itunes. Some will play for 10 seconds or less and then skip to the next song, and some songs won't even play at all. getting ready to drop apple products altogether. can't seem to find a solution for this... apple is quickly becoming the GM of computer products...

Is anyone even working on fixing this issue? It's kind of a pain. When i sync with my cable the audio is distorted, so clearly my phone has a dud lightning port or something. I rely on the wifi sync. I try to use it, but it froze on waiting for changes to apply. Went to the manual selection option, and now it starts, but cancels out at song 1 or 2 and when i look, neither of those songs even managed to get onto the phone. Can Apple even at least acknowledge that there's an issue?

Ok folks .. here is the solution that has finally worked for me. After spending over 45 days on and off the phone with Apple support, this is the work around solution for the ibooks.

Set your IPAD as new and go through that whole set up process. Plug in your device so it can communicate with iTunes. When you load your books from iTunes to the IPAD do not synic the first time. You will have to drag and drop from iTunes the books/music you want loaded. After you manually do this, the synic seems to work fine.

Also things I have found. By dragging and dropping the volume of books I have. It took less time to load on my IPAD then it did trying to synic and waiting over 24 hours to load in IPAD (at which time you can't touch your device). It was during this huge file load that the Ibooks App/iTunes/Cloud and whatever other Apple software all talk, that the books being loaded start to go squirrely and go into limbo.

Here is the problem. When you get the message "waiting for files to copy", itunes and your device are having an issue. So files that iTunes thinks it has copied over, actually go into limbo and sit there greyed out and won't work on your device. When you try to re-synic again, iTunes says "hey! I have already copied these over" and will sit there on "waiting for files to copy".

A way to fix the files that are in limbo, delete your app and re-download it. The files that moved over from iTunes to your device will still be there, however, the files that are in limbo will disappear. This should stop the synic issue ... or it will identify that there are issues with some of your files.

Is this a great fix ... nope! I pushed and pushed to be allowed to talk with someone from DEV and got stonewalled. I even brought in their Customer Support from Corp Head office and got absolutely no where.

BOTTOM LINE: iTunes and your devices can not handle a huge transfer of files from iTunes to the device and it creates this limbo "waiting for files to be copied". I find this ironic, because I have never had this problem when it comes to my music (transfering from iTunes to my IPOD), however, I haven't synic that device in awhile, guess i am scared it will do the same crap.

I also got Apple to acknowledge that when they test out their new software upgrades and devices that they ONLY test with iTunes Store only products (ie: music/books/apps). Infact, Apple DOES NOT test any outside source materials. I found this rather pathethically sad, since 99.9% of the users of any devices get their music/books from sources OTHER then the Apple Store. This means that a file that USED to work for you (example: a song) and was loaded on your device fine before all these software upgrades in Nov/2013 might not work anymore because of a change they have made in their software.

Last conversation I had with Apple (both Support and Customer Service) was them telling me that DEV was looking into the problem but did not have an ETA on when a fix would happen.

Also keep in mind, I found that even with a 128kg AIR, it doesn't like to hang alot of books. I found that at around 3k in books, the device starts to freeze up. This contradicts the Apple concept, that the device can hold as many songs/books as you want, until you reach the max room available on the device. I can clearly tell you this statement is infact false. The device does not like to hold that many files and it starts to delay on you (quite noticeable) at 3k.

So, that in a nutshell has been my experience with Apple Support. 45 days later, I have reset my Air 10 times, tried to load all my books (at one time) 9 times, to finally find that the only way to get them in was a drag and drop the alphabetic (one letter at a time) and let it load on the IPAD before I would drag and drop more. The synic problem doesnt happen anymore, I had to eliminate 2 books that itunes just would not send over to the IPAD even though there was nothing wrong with the file. Am I happy? NOPE ... talk about bait and switch.

Consumers beware ... Apple doesn't necessarily deliver what it says it will.

I just had the same issue but it would appear that I have just solved it.

If you want to fix it, do as follows;

1/ press the windows start button on your laptop/computer

2/ Go into 'Control Panel'

3/ Go into 'Programs' and then 'Uninstall a Program'

4/ Then scroll down to itunes and right click on 'iTunes'

5/ Then instead of uninstalling it, just hit 'Repair' and follow the prompts.

Mine is currently working fine now and has synced the new songs I wanted to sync onto my iphone 5, so hopefully that should solve the problem for most of you. :-) Hope it helps!!

I'm having the exact same problem, I've tried everything uninstalling iTunes restoring my phone, I've spent days and days I am so frustrated.

iTunes won't sync music to my iPhone 5 so I tried removing all of my music now I can't sync any files back onto my iPhone, I am left with no content on my iPhone at all!

iTunes says waiting for sync to start then waiting for changes to be applied then Nothing!

It's since the new iTunes update, I wish I hadn't updated to iOS 7 because i tried downloading a previous version of iTunes (iTunes 10.7) and because my iPhone has iOS 7 it said the device requires iTunes 11.0 or later.

I really hope something is being done about this and as for the software not being tested with content not from iTunes Store well that's ridiculous, what's the point in importing cd's to your iTunes library if they won't sync to your apple device?

I refuse to sit for hours dragging and dropping over 3000 songs to my 64 GB iPhone 5, Also films I have converted from DVD to mp4 format will not copy via drag and drop when before the updated version of iTunes they used to synchronise to the same iPhone without any problem other than taking a while.

Btw, yep, you will need to update your itunes to itunes 11. Once you start downloading itunes 11, it will more than likely say that there was a bug and that your phone won't be able to sync the songs and when you try, it will appear like it's working normally but it won't, it will sit there forever saying it is trying to sync.

That's why, instead of re-downloading itunes 11, follow as per my above instructions and hit REPAIR instead of Re-install. After you've done that, the itunes 11, ios7 and your iphone 5, should all corroborate just fine together. The problem appears to be with itunes 11 with a slight bug, but once you hit repair, the problem is solved.

You shouldn't have to do anything more than that. I know it's a pain doing all of this downloading and installing, but it does work better in the end. :-)

Apple should've made the pop-up say "go into control panel and right-click on itunes and highlight and click 'Repair'" instead of suggesting people re-install it. Completely wrong advice on their part.

just tried your method and it didn't work for my phone. it's so annoying. i've been dealing with this for at least 3-4 months at this point. everyone seems to have their own method of fixing it that has worked for them.

i don't think it's specifically because of the upgrade to itunes 11 or ios7. i had both at the same time at one point and things had been working fine. i think this started occurring at ios7.0.3

all of this has confirmed that at the end of my contract, i will be dropkicking all apple products and making a switch to something else.

Have you installed the two absolute, latest itunes and ios together?

I've uploaded the latest iOS and then, when it prompted me to upload the absolute latest itunes, I did that as well. If it's been going on for 3-4 months, you might not have the two absolute latest updates. Either that, or there could be a technical issue with your actual phone?

It should work. Also, what computer program are you using? Mine is Windows 7.
