So earlier today i dropped my phone and it cracked. But before that I had an unrelated/ ongoing problem. My led light wouldnt work and I wouldnt know if i got a text message unless i unlocked it. So do i have to pay for the cracked screen or could i just get the whole phone replaced entirely for no charge.

You can get an out of warranty exchange unit for $269 (in US) at Apple Store genius bar
however if in US some stores are offerring screen replacement for a price .check your local Store to see if they offer this service.(won't fix LED though )

Then whay are you asking about it here. There is a fixed deductible charge. Read the papers you got when you purchased AppleCare+. Then, make an appointment at the genius bar to get your phone replaced.
I got the phone off a friend. He left the Applecare+ on the phone. I dont have the papers. Plus im 250 miles away from home, at school.
