still photos imported to imovie change to solid green

i'm using all the newest versions of iLife and Aperture (as of 11/13/13)... i use iMovie to make slideshows from my photography because i like the controls better than in Aperture or iPhoto... however, since upgrading to Mavericks and all of the new iWorks, iLife, Aperture on my Fall 2011 MBA, when i import still photos into iMovie to make a slideshow, they have a propensity to be rendered, at least in previews, as solid green images (think green screen)... i'm using jpeg images that have been exported to a separate file from my Aperture library, all using RGB color... there seems to be no rhyme or reason to which ones render incorrectly and which do not... sometimes the thumbnail image appears as the solid green, most of the time, though, it will appear as a standard thumbnail image, but show up green on the preview screen. I have not tried actually exporting the project as a quicktime movie to see what happens. I have tried closing and reopening imove after import, but that seems to make no difference. if i delete the files and reimport, sometimes they will import correctly, but often they do not.

My iMovie files, as well as the exported jpg's are all located on my internal SSD. Is anyone else having this kind of thing happen?

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

OK - I have suffered a lot with this issue today - and I have a solution! Well, it worked for me anyway and I hope it works for you. My images were too large. Some of the images I was trying to import were upwards of 5, 6, 7 even 8 MB in size. What I did was to go into Preview, open all my images, select all my images and then do a block adjust size of 50% . Import them into iMovie - and it worked.

Have those who have green screen problem got it fixed by updating to version 10.1.1 ? Seems it doesn't work for me (I've updated). Instead as Apple's release note for 10.1.1 mentions that the problem affects JPGs with pixel larger than 4000, I then use Preview to reduce the size of all photos to 4000 or below. It works. So, does it mean the slideshow produced can still fully utilize the 4K display (of my TV or PC screen) ?

Yes, I have deleted all photos from the project and started from fresh (drag the photos from Finder to the iMovie timeline). The result is the same....i.e. only the first photo is normally display and all the rest are green screen. Then I deleted them from the timeline again, go to Finder and select all (130) photos and open them by Preview, global adjust their size to 4000 pixels. After adjustment, drag them to iMovie timeline again. Done and it works.

Here is the Apple info on the problem. If still images are solid green or black in the iMovie Viewer - Apple Support

It is apparently also necessary to create a new event.

If you still get a solid green image then I suggest you file a report with Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/imovie.html giving full details of the format and origin of the affected images as well as the exact model of your Mac.

In this thread Images/stills turn black in iMovie since El Capitan upgrade

although concerning black rather than green images, the various posts established that whether or not the problem occurred did not only depend on the image size but on the origin of the images (there are variants of pdf formats) and on the graphics card in the Mac.

This problem has started again. Ive created a movie, added a still image at the start, firstly using the Ken Burns effect and the images appeared as a greenish noisy square, gradually moving across the screen. I then removed the effect and it still appears as a great square. I've added the same image at the end of the clip and it works fine, so I copied and paste the end at the start, replacing the culprit. It looks as though it will work to begin with, but after sharing, the share file has the corruption and the image place on I move also appears corrupt.

Any ideas? It's a standard JPEG, so should cause this problem, espe if it works at the end of the clip ....
