android not receiving texts from some iphone users

had iphone 3gs for less than a week before upgrading to lg g2. one of my contacts can receive my texts but when responding i don't get anything at all. this is very frustrating. i can't delete my apple id or anything, but apparently this is an imessage glitch? the contact is a professor so it's very important we be able to text each other!

Apple has ruined my whole experience with an amazing, more superior phone! I recently purchased an HTC One after switching from an iPhone 5 and low and behold, I am unable to receive text from my iPhone friends. I have spent over 6 hours on the phone with AT&T as well as Apple to try and resolve, the issue! I had to change my apple id on all my devices (Macbook, iPad, etc), the number was decertified from the Apple server as well as removed from the iCloud. I receive text from SOME iPhoners but not all group text with iPhoners work due to the iMessage/SMS confusion. So AT&T is making me use a phone I love but unable to receive text from iPhoners or use a phone I really don't want (iPhone) just so I can text with a small group of my contacts. Their big solution was to change my phone number which I've had for 12 years! I can't believe Apple has the world by the balls that once you use an iPhone you can never leave unless you don't want to talk to your friends using iPhones!

Jeangreen7, I did it a little bit different but your advice got me to where I needed. I went to settings>messages and then switched on send as SMS ( when iMessage is unavailable) and it started working. I am the one who just switched from an iPhone to an LG G2 but wasn't able to get my friend's text msgs. Only difference was I didn't delete out my contact info from her phone and then re-add it, as it turned out that I didn't need to. Thanks!!

I called apple...they told me step by step how to do it.

1) Go to messages in settings.

2) Turn off imessages. If this doens't work...

3) Directly under that (if imessages are on) should be where you see what email address is linked to that phone....sign out.

4) It takes about 24 hours for this to work afterwards....if you need messages asap, have the person sending you a message delete the thread and start a new one.

if all this fails...call apple, they'll just unregister the number/email address from that phone

Just call Apple at 1-800-My-Apple. Tell the robot you're calling regarding "iPhone", ask for tech support , and request that your phone number be removed from "iMessage".

They will send you a text message (while you're still on the phone with them) with a code.

You give the tech person the code and your number will be removed w/in 24 hours.

Hi I had the same issue i switched from an iphone 5 to the LG flex at first the text where coming thru but i was only having problems receiving text from iphone 5 and 5 s users, which my daughter has so i told her turn the wifi off and text me and guess what it goes thru as long as shes not connected to a wifi, its ridiculous how apple makes things so difficult for people and so many restrictions its as if they keep you in a box with their products no room to move with apple if you ask me.
