android not receiving texts from some iphone users

had iphone 3gs for less than a week before upgrading to lg g2. one of my contacts can receive my texts but when responding i don't get anything at all. this is very frustrating. i can't delete my apple id or anything, but apparently this is an imessage glitch? the contact is a professor so it's very important we be able to text each other!

We had 3 iPhones in the family and I just changed my iPhone to MotoX. I had the same problem as everyone else not receiving text on my MotoX from iPhone users. Called Apple twice and they deactivated it on their side, days went by, but it did not fix the problem.

I began testing using the other two iPhones my family has. When I turned on Settings->Messages->Send as SMS in both iPhones the text sent does go from Blue to Green and the MotoX received the text, so that means it's working on Apple's end. The problem still persisted if I turn off the Send as SMS.

The way I permently fixed it was to go into each iPhone and do Settings->General->Reset Networks Settings. You can leave the Send as SMS turned off. This may be similar to Neyney1's post about pulling the SIM card. I did not try that.

To me this means the issue is actually in the iPhone software itself.

Just call Apple at 1-800-My-Apple. Tell the robot you're calling regarding "iPhone", ask for tech support , and request that your phone number be removed from "iMessage".

They will send you a text message (while you're still on the phone with them) with a code.

You give the tech person the code and your number will be removed w/in 24 hours.

Having this issue as well. Switched from an iPhone 4 to an Adroid and I am unable to receive text messages from iPhone users. It works for a few messages and then switches will not allow me to receive the message. Called Apple and the guy I talked to was very nice. He tried walking me and a iPhone user through the steps that it should have taken to resolve the issue, however it did not. It seems that the new update does not allow the iPhone to let users switch the message to an SMS message. While I was told that the engineers are working on this issue, it's very hindering. I really hope this issue is fixed soon. It's not fair to those of us that made the switch to something we are more comfortable with to not be able to receive messages. I have a brand new phone and can't even use it to talk to my iPhone friends.

Not just UK, Im in US and have taken all steps and still having the issue. I asked apple support to clarify that the solution was to go to people individually and have them either update to the new ios (7.1 or later should work) or change sending options and it is so. If anyone has found some other solution I am desperate here. Still pretty shocked at this issue.

Same problem here in the UK. A friend of both my wife and I moved from an iPhone to Android.

My wife and I both have iPhones (4S and a 4) both on Virginmobile, I can send texts to our friend who recieves them okay as SMS's, however the texts my wife sends are not recieved.

Tried deleting our friends contact, tried SMS only setting, inputting the number as both area code and with international prefix code, but still doesn't work.

Very odd how my texts are recieved and my wife's are not.
