magic mouse bluetooth

Every time I want to use my magic mouse with my BRAND NEW macbook pro and OS X I need to reconnect mannual. How do I get the computer to automatically detect the mouse once it has been paired with it once? I rang apple and they told me to reload OS X, which I did but it has made no difference.
