How can  I roll back?

Is there anyway besides a restore?

I would comment on why, bury they will, delete it.

   Think  before this new 'update'

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi + Cellular, iOS 6.0.1

If you have got the old iBooks version on iTunes on your Mac or PC, first remove iBooks from the iPad by holding its icon and pressing the X button.

Then, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac, and iTunes will open. Choose your iPad in the toolbar, go to Apps and select iBooks to install. Then, just sync the tablet. Read >

The new version is so bad I can't believe it!

In my case, I like the new iBooks version because the old one didn't make sense in iOS 7. In my opinion, the old iBooks version was ugly in iOS 7, so I think it's a good update, but it's your decision to install an old iBooks version

It does not matter if it is coherent with rest apps if it is ugly. I'm sorry, Apple, you messed this up.

ibook is just very bad and miserable..plz stop screwing with the Apple look and feel..

Ugh I did what was suggested but my ibooks isnt showing in my itunes   Im so angry with Apple now. The new iBooks is disgusting! I do have an ipad mini that should still have the old one. I wonder if I can transfer the app that way.

Some of us liked the "real" look of a book and the bookshelf too. We have purchased books and have been used to reading them with a certain look and feel on our iPads. It's not just the background user interface that changed, it's also the actual look of the books as well.

In the old iBooks, you could change the book to a flat look if you preferred it or you could change it to the real "book" look, but it was your choice. I preferred the "book" look and expected to be able to continue to read my books with the appearance I was used to having in iBooks and that was available when I made my purchases. This feels like a bait and switch from Apple.

I hardly ever get bothered by software updates, but this one had me almost in tears yesterday. I'm a hard core book lover and I loved the way the iPad gave the feel of  reading a "real" book. Now it's blah and looks like every other ebook reader out there.

And I guess I want to add that I feel let down by Apple on this one. I'm a long time Apple user and one thing that always differentiated Apple from everyone else was beautiful design. This does *not* look elegant or sophisticated, instead it looks the same as all the other ebook apps I have on my iPad.

  • Mark Hollingsworth Level 1 (10 points)

    Yes, I totally agree.

Most I don't care that much about, but being able to see it like a real book is a deal changer for me,

I was going to get the new iPad, but I will not now.

Why spend that sort of money and have it look like a cheap e-reader?

I don't understand this 'flat' look anyway. It probably makes sense on a phone, but why have a fancy display and make it look cheap?

I agree!!  This new iBooks look was a bad idea.  I always enjoyed the bookshelf look of the old iBooks.

  • Melissa Phoenix Level 1 (0 points)

It was the most bland pathetic look I had ever seen. I have no idea why anyone would approve that as a 'good design'. I too was almost in tears because I love reading ebooks on there. Anyway, good news! I now have the old version back on my Ipad2 thanks to my ipad mini still having it so happy now. And from now on Ill be alot more careful in what i upgrade! ugh!

  • Mark Hollingsworth Level 1 (10 points)

I'm really hoping they fix it.

But in the meantime I did get the older version back!

Next time I'll make sure to back everything up and KNOW I can get it back.

I send off complaints to Apple, but I wonder if they really read them?

Everyone should do so- althought saying that may get this deleted.

I don't know why, shouldn't they care that the users like the Apps?

They already lost a sale from me.

    thanks for the help above.

  • Mark Hollingsworth Level 1 (10 points)

I got home and backed up all my apps to a separate folder.

Then after deleting it from my iPad, I re-synced.

      The last version is back!

    It looks great.

Why Not give us the option of having the 'book' theme?

    I've sent in more feedback.

I definetely want the old wooden look of ibooks.  This new version is ugly with no dimension.  I also want my old yellow note application back..

Those are the only 2 apps I really liked on the ipad.... I am a samsung girl... Sorry guys.  I wish the note 10.1 2014 and the ipad air would just meld together and become the perfect device we all want (at least I do)...

Anywho, in my opinion they were fine in their initial stage, if they are not going to add functionality to it.  Then dont change what is not broken!!! unfortunately I cannot go back to neighter or them because I lost my Mac, my Windows and all the applications along with them and all my devices are new..

Any ideas on how I can get the apps back to how they used to be? Very dissapointed indeed! and where can I send feedback for this issue.  I like having the option to change it to whatever we want...!
