Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

How can I go back to the last version if ibooks?

How can I roll back?

Is there anyway besides a restore?

I would comment on why, bury they will, delete it.

Think before this new 'update'

If you have got the old iBooks version on iTunes on your Mac or PC, first remove iBooks from the iPad by holding its icon and pressing the X button.

Then, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac, and iTunes will open. Choose your iPad in the toolbar, go to Apps and select iBooks to install. Then, just sync the tablet. Read > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386

Question, please--

If I delete the disgustingly bad new iBooks version and then re-install my old version of iBooks from my computer, will I have to recreate all my categories again? I have about a dozen categories (fiction, fitness, business, history, etc) and about 800 books spread among the different categories. I would LOVE to junk this crappy version of iBooks, but I hate the idea of having to create new folders and sort my books again.

An answer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had never made any custom categories.

Mine still has them, but I don't know about if you had moved them around.

Bookmarks and things seem to have stayed, so I'm guessing they will still be there.

My dad goofed up and didn't turn off auto update! so had to go back again to the old version.

Make sure to turn it off in iTunes and on your iPad.
