Google Links Don't Change Color

Frustratingly, the links on Google search pages within Safari do not change from blue to purple after visitation. Can anyone help me to remedy this?

Thanks!

Well the my test account behaved perfectly, as expected, thus a problem in our home folder somewhere, the Safari preference I had touted as being the missing colour link was not checked, still the link changed colour.

I guess i will look thru my home folders.

First though I think I will run a colorsync repair & see if that helps.

edited by: Eme p.s At least it is not a system wide issue, I am glad about that.

I know!!! it remains the same 4 me as well, i was just posting to some folks
i am going to try permissions repair on mine and a restart, did you try the test account as i said mine is limited to my home folder, which i think is good.

Then i an going to run ColorSync repair in Utilites, just launch and click repair. Close all other application though same as any repair at least i quit all when I run repair & def. for premissions repair, with Disk Utility.

okay I will post back,

Hi,

I ran permission repair, checked links on Google no go. ColorSync reported

no profile errors, no fix errors. Check Safari Google search anyway, no go.

Quit Safari, Went to Home folder/~Library/Preferences, list mode and

removed the com.apple.CharPaletteServer.plist file to the desktop.

The i did a restart that seems to be it, however it has not recreated itself. I

when put it back in the preferences folder the links, are back to no colour

change on google. So I am going to leave it on the desktop for now.

okay, I put the file back in just now [ file still had not recreated ] and the

links continue to change after clicking on them.

Try that and see if it recreates itself, and see if it works for you.

Then put it back in the preference folder and links continue to change.

I can't speak for David, however the box is not checked,, I have not changed the google pref. now or before either this same issue has transpired,
I have run a disk repair with the cd/dvd, not clear if that is what worked before or what i 1st posted to david.

The plist file i moved in & out of Pref.folder made the difference for me.
When I have the time i will move the char. file to my desktop again & do a Disk repair to see if the file recreates itself .

Thank you though I appreciate the time and idea.

Quit Safari, Go to Home folder/~Library/Preferences

move the com.apple.CharPaletteServer.plist file to the<DESKTOP.</b>
Under the Blue Apple
restart your machine.

Do a Google search do the links look visited ? If yes :

go back and SEE if the file recreated itself.

If not put the file back in the Home folder/~Library/Preferences

Check the search again do the links work right? If not Move the file

back to the Desktop.

DO NOT TRASH the file .
Leave it there for some time. I left it on the desktop for a couple of hours or so continued with searchs on and off, links worked as expected.

As i said I did move the file back into the preference folder because the file still had not recreated itself. The Links continued to work correctly after i put it back into the prefernce folder. I am not sure why it worked, however it did work.

I am leaving this in case it does work it did then it doesn't. I just did a google search again and the darn LINKs are not changing, I am now thinking it is something to do with GOOGLE as Dale said, I just do not know what since the new window deal did not work. This is frustrating at the least.
I moved the file back to the desktop but did not do a restart i have to go to work no time.

Hi Again,

I am guessing you did not try the file removal. It would not recreate because
it is the Character Palette plist lol [ little Special Character in edit most apps have] I had not launched it. When launched, recreate it did. The one and off of the links showing must of been coincidence.

So it [.plist ] has nothing to do with google whatsoever i spoke to a very learned bud of mine his google does the same at times it changes colour but if you just use the back and forth button they may not or may, which is what I have found also. Perhaps you should contact google see what they say.

See what other responses you get here for help. For me it is solved just a google sort of thing.

I am at a loss. I've tried everything suggested here; I've tried using Safari Enhancer (http://www.celestialfrontiers.com/safari_enhancer.php); I've tried creating my own cascading style sheets as described here: http://www.macworld.com/2005/02/secrets/febmac911/index.php. The latter two methods will change Google's appearance (as well as that of other Web sites), but visited links within Google's search results remain in the original color. I even tried contacting Google with this question, but I guess I didn't really expect them to respond. I am vexed. Someone please help.

Hello David,

It works and at times does not work i have spoken to several friends about it is the same for them sometimes the links just do not change colour.

Try deleting google search cookies periodically and see if that helps. As I said what i thought was the fix was in left field, some sort of coincidence. If i find any thiing i will post it.

I have been aware of this for a long time now. It may have started when I first installed Tiger but I can't be certain of that. It's specific to Safari and Google - I use Google News all the time and the news items I click on do not change. Occasionally I use Camino and they do change with it. I've also gone to the Apple store and used Safari on their computers. Same thing links do not change color on any Google page. At some time Google changed something or Safari was changed. I've kept hoping that an update will correct this but so far no luck. Any other site I go to like these forums work correctly; after all this time it's just Google sites that I experience this.

Hello Pappasbike

I use Panther os 10.3.9 It has been something i have noticed from the start. It has not changed, expect for the fact that they will change and then they won't.

Is is google< All other links for instance here in Apple discussion do change
colour as well as most all other sites [ if set to do that] , I visit, which is many & innumerable. I do find removing their cookies can help as I
posted earlier.
