Black dot on iPod screen

Hi, I was looking at an online auction site to buy a second hand iPod classic as my own has finally bit the dust.

One seller has an iPod for sale with a small black dot on the screen which is only visible when the backlight is not on.

This wouldn't bother me, but is it an issue that is likely to get worse?

If the "black dot" is on the LCD (the screen itself), I think it would be visible whether the backlight is ON or not. And it may get worse. If it's a blemish on the surface of the iPod over the screen area (not the LCD), which may be the case if it's not as noticeable with the backlight ON, it will probably not get worse.
