How can I remove the 90 day wait until I can use a new Apple ID on iTunes?

I recently bought a like new MacBook Pro Retina that only had 16 battery cycles. It was sold to the person I bought it from in March 2013. he sent me the original receipt from the Apple store also.I contacted Apple and they helped me set up a new Apple Admin. account under my name and password. I purchased the extended Applecare under my name for this computer. All is ok there. It is running Mountain Lion 10.8.5 OS and it allowed me to do iPhoto update today.

I authorized the computer under iTunes and next to it said 83 days before I could use my Apple ID? I unauthorized the computers on my iTunes account for the three under them to clear them off. I reauthorized the MacBook Pro and it seems ok on the MacBook Pro. I went on my Windows laptop and the MacBook Pro was there with the 83 days wait again. So I took it off. Do I have to wait 83 days to use my Apple ID on this computer? I backed up my two iPads on iTunes today and that was fine as it showed them under devices. I am confused.

Any help?

Thanks.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

This is not correct.

You mean only one user is allowed to redownload past purchases.

Everyone can sync past purchases with no issues.

The solution is to not delete items in iTunes and they won''t need to be redownloaded.

that's right. So what is your recommended method of setting up a new Mac Desktop with multi user login with different appleIDs and itunes data stores and allow each user to use Itunes and access all their music from that device to sync with iphone, ipads, ipods etc?

What if you lost all your data on your old mac desktop and were starting from scratch for the family household?

It sounds like you need to invest in a backup system for your computer. Given the reality this policy is in effect you need to make sure you are never in a position where you need to redownload from multiple store accounts in a short period of time. Also realize that if an item gets removed from the store by the distributor it is gone for everybody, including previous purchasers.

Hi all

I have found a solution to this very problem. I had this problem Friday night as my friend signed into his account on my PC which resulted in me losing access to my iCloud library and having the 90 security problem. I changed my PC name in System Settings and authorised it within iTunes. The PC is then regarded as a new device. I had no message about the 90 days and my Apple Music was fully restored on my machine.

Hope this helps

Hi all,

I stumbled into this problem through lack of understanding of how it all works. I should have read the instructions properly! I'd bought about 50 quid's worth of kids films for my little ones to watch on a flight using one apple ID. I then downloaded them onto my Surface which had previously been associated with my second apple ID. I got warnings about 90 days blah blah blah, but just ignored them. When I tried to switch back to my second apple ID so I could access my apple music library, I got the error message telling me to wait 90 days.

98wrightpr's solution works. BUT when you re-name your computer the MS Office 365 seems to start a routine of asking you to accept their licence agreement. I suspect that my Office 365 would treat the re-named computer as a new computer and therefore would use up one of the five licences which comes with the subscription.

I backed off and re-named my Surface with its original name without accepting the Office 365 licence so no harm done there.

Here is the strange thing...my Surface is still successfully associated with my second apple ID. So 98wrightpr's solution seems to work.

It seems to me that they are pushing you to rw-purchase what you had before.

I have had my apple ID for many many years, I moved to another country, and now apple won't take my debit card from a different country, nor let's me use PayPal. So I had to open a different account, but I still keep my US account as my main one. I used to be able to go back and forth to purchase on the same device. Now it is giving me this stupid 90 day warning if I want to download past purchases. THIS IS SOO WRONG, SO RIDICULOUS!

APPLE, IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO THIS, THEN LET US USE PAYPAL FOR THE INTERNATIONALS! YOU ARE HURTING YOUR CLIENTS!

AM I then to understand that the device, which has to wait 90 days, will, at the end of the period be associated with my Apple ID?

No.

You will need to redownload something (meaning download something you have already purchased) to associate the 90 day limit to your account.

But if you want to make initial purchases, just make them now with whichever account you want.
