itunes in Africa?

I got a new iPad air (yay!) and am sending my old iPad to a friend in Togo, Africa. Will he be able to use iTunes to buy apps for it? Can I send him an iTunes gift card? I see what I can buy here is good for US users only.

Again, that is not allowed per the terms of use of every iTunes Store unless your physically present in Germany. The iTunes Stores all say explictly that you are not allowed to use or even attempt to use the iTunes Store from outside of its country. For instance, here's the text from the CanadianiTunes Store Terms (emphasis mine):

"The iTunes Service is available to you only in Canada, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance."

and the terms from the German Store:

Der Dienst steht Ihnen nur in Deutschland zur Verfügung. Sie dürfen den Dienst nicht von außerhalb Deutschlands nutzen oder versuchen zu nutzen. iTunes kann mit Hilfe von technischen Mitteln die Einhaltung dieser Bestimmung überprüfen.

So again, since there is no iTunes Store for Togo, there is no iTunes Store colipotter's friend can use.

Regards.

Oh, but I don't feel at all as though we are discussing something that would violate the TOU of this forum.

Let me explain...

Start up your iTunes and select the iTunes Store.

Click on your Apple ID on the left and select Account.

Have a look at your Account Information > Apple ID Summary and notice the option Change Country or Region.

That option is there for a good reason.

And another thing, in the meantime I have contacted Apple Support for iTunes and in their first reaction they say that it is possible to change the country under certain conditions.

There are still a couple of things that are not quite clear for me, therefore I cannot say that my problem is solved yet.

Any discussion about how to get around that restriction is therefore not appropriate for these forums, since any such discussion would be in violation of those terms of use from Apple.

It is not yet certain that this is indeed a restriction and I am certainly not trying to get around anything illegally.

That is why I am in contact with Apple Support on this very subject.

Anyway, if I can solve my problem, I am sure that the OP of this discussion would also be interested.
