Since I updated to Mavericks the cmd+shift+4 to make screen shots no longer works. I use this TONS as it easily adds specific screenshot to Desktop and from there I can email or whatever. When I take the screen shot it just does not appear anywhere....? Anywone else with same problem?

Mine does exactly the same since upgrading to Mavericks. If I delete an item off the desktop my screenshots show up. Really strange! Anyone know of a fix?
I dont know when started but suddenly I found that I am not finding my Screen shot anywhere!! This is really starange. Even I have tried to set the folder as above instruction, its not working.
The command is
defaults write com.apple.screencapture location ~/Screenshots/
assuming you have a folder called "Screenshots" in your home directory
yup, have a folder called Screenshots aswell.
I followed this but didnt work for me.
Mine say read & write
To solve it for now I used the drop box feature where you take a screenshot and it saves it into a file on your drop box. Although would prefer the orginal way to be back.
I downloaded Maverick and everything worked fine for a while but yesterday when I try to open one of my saved screen shots, I get the error 1712.

I have simply zapped the PRAM and will monitor and update as needed. My screenshots are showing up on the Desktop again.
Almost a month later and screenshots are still going to the desktop as they should. DropBox was NOT a factor in my situation.
Definitely solved it. It was Dropbox re-asserting itself as the screen capture destination, even though I'd previously declined that option. Grrrrr... wasted time. Thanks for the solution.
