iPad1 needs iBooks, can't load iBooks 'cause need IOS7 which doesn't work on iPad1

I'm sorry but I am download iBooks on Ipad 1 via iTunes and then download in Ipad 1.He offered it to me that it downloads the previous version from the App Store on Ipad 1.It is legal?

Your answer won't work in my case, as I gave my iPad 1 to my daughter after erasing everything and recreating it as a new device. Because she has set up her own Apple id, all myapp purchases made under my id obviously don't appear in the list.

Before handing the device over, I backed it up to my iMac. Is there any way that I can selectively restore the old apps (iBooks is only one) to the iPad without clobbering stuff she has since setup on the device?

If she downloads the current version of the iBooks app on her computer's iTunes so that it's in her account's purchase history, she should then be able to download a previous compatible version of the app via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on her iPad

HI, I had this same problem about 6 months ago, when setting up my replacement iPod touch 4. What worked for me, was downloading IBooks by wifi, I could then easily transfer my books from iTunes.

Have have to say the iBooks has been nothing but a huge disappointment, so very slow for downloading, for deleating a book, moving/sorting books, andI've noticed the app drains the battery.

OMG! Thank you!!! I have been at this all day until I found this post!! And now, I can see it in ibooks... but it won't open. Even though it's an epub, it says it is formatted incorrectly. Any ideas? This is true of some of the books, but others open fine.

Where did the epubs come from ? If they were bought from the iBookstore and they're still in your country's store (and you haven't changed countries since buying them) then try deleting them and redownload them via the Purchased tab in the store in the app

Sorry if I'm reviving this thread but I got mine to ask to download the compatible version but it says "iBooks could not be downloaded at this time.".
