EyeTV DTT stick

Hi,

Has anyone had experiences with this?? I like the sound of the frontrow integration, and i've heard very good htings about the eyetv2 software, but wouldn't mind an opinion before i buy.

I'm looking for it for my macbook really, but I'm assuming that you guys on the Mini forum use eyetv more than macbook owners and i'm not sure it really matter what system anyway because I'll be using it mainly at home with my macbook plugged into my TV...

Heres a link to it in the apple store 🙂

Cheers,
Andrew

Their new DTT stick is probably near enough the same chipset as the miglia TV mini which does exactly the same thing.

I have been using the miglia TV mini for a month now with my intel mini. It is the eyetv software that makes the device magic. It is so easy to use and I never miss a show now. I love it although I have had to purchase another FW drive for TV recordings. My mini now has 750GB of space.

I can't imagine the DTT will behave any differently to the miglia tv mini.

I too use the EyeTV 2.x software with my Mini and an EyeTV 200 firewire device hooked up to my 50" Samsung DLP TV. It's great!

I've used the EyeTV software since version 1.7x and 2.0 is very cool.

Here's what I do... I record on my Living room Mini but edit then shows with my office Mini. With the previous versions (before 2.0) I had to copy the entire folder over to an external drive so that I could edit out the commercials. Now with 2.x I can just copy the show I need. Editing out the commercials is very easy to do with the EyeTV software. I have full seasons of TV shows that are nearly DVD quality. I use it in combination with Toast to make DVD's, it's easy and very cool!

As Tim said you'll end up using a lot of space so plan on buying an external drive.

Luckily I've already planned to buy an external hard drive, and also a new internal one for my macbook (60gb just seems a bit too claustrophobic for me... I cant even have all my music on that 🙂 ).

I think i'm definately going to buy this TV tuner...

I was just wondering... do other eyetv tuners have Frontrow compatibility like this one?? I was also looking at the EyeTV 400 - a more desktop (rather than portable) option which might be a bit more easy next to my tv....

I have been looking to buy an eyetv device for a while but never noticed frontrow compatibility (which ot be honest is what i was waiting for). Is this a software update or osmehting new to this hardware?

Andrew.

Front Row integration is coming. From the Elgato web site ( http://faq.elgato.com/index.php/faq/more/418/ )

This Full Screen Menu will be a part of the EyeTV software from now on, and will work with all users of EyeTV 2 software. It will see wide release in the upcoming EyeTV 2.3 update, which is scheduled to be available later in July 2006.
More information about the Full Screen Menu will be released when EyeTV 2.3 is ready. EyeTV 2.3 will have additional features that are not in EyeTV 2.2.2, including a Full Screen Program Guide. This will include scheduling recordings using the Full Screen Menu.
Please Note: EyeTV 2.2.2 is only designed to work with EyeTV for DTT. So, please wait a few weeks until EyeTV 2.3 is ready, which will be for every EyeTV compatible hardware device. EyeTV 2.3 will be a free update for existing EyeTV 2 users.

So EyeTV for DTT gets it now, the rest of us within a few weeks (hopefully!)
