I have a Mini 10.8.5 with preinstalled apps. I installed iLife '11 for the use of the iDVD program. Now the IPhoto won't open, and I am left with an error that iPhoto application is damaged or incomplete. Please help! I have read posts that suggest re-installing disk that came with the computer, however, there is no installation disk for Mac Mini.

start by running softwware update and be sure iPhoto is up to date
If that does not help reinstall from the purchases list in the App store - log in with th eApple ID used to set up the computer and look under purchases - you may have to accept or unhide if it is not there

You may have to reinstall iPhoto 9 with the iLife 11 disk as a custom install and update to the latest iPhoto version as follows:

I now have to figure out how to make the iphoto point to my old iphoto libraryl Are those photos still there even though the new version only shows the iphoto library in "gray text" when I try to import library?
depress and hold the option key, launch iPhoto, use the resulting select library window to point to the iPhoto library
NEVER ever import one iPhoto library into another iPhoto library - it does not work and creates a massive mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to combine two libraries use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager to merge the two libraries into one library. That's the only way do to that.
