Maverick Migration
My new iMac has been spinning for hours when trying to migrate from Windows Vista.
The system reconizes my PC Laptop but a message reads, "Looking for other sources...'.
Would someone kindly help?

Did you install the Windows version of Migration Assistant on your Windows PC? Windows Migration Assistant 1.0.5.6.
Yes. Most recent migration Assistant is running on PC. Message reads, "Waiting for your Mac to connect..."
Are you running Migration Assistant on your Mac and selecting the proper source device?
Yes. Dial button # 2; "From a Windows PC"
I don't have anything more for you. This is not something I've run across myself.
I was going to come back and suggest starting over, buy Csound beat me to it. 🙂
Restart both machines and try again.
Will do!
Same result!
iMac recognizes pc but "Looking for other resources.." message appears with spinning icon.
Must mention the two systems are connected via an Ethernet cable.
Try connecting both machines to the same network, using Ethernet cables. These are just alternatives to try, they may or may not work, like Kappy I have not seen this before.
Does one need to boot the Mac computer into target disk mode? I didn't think you did. I was under the impression you just ran Migration Assistant on the Mac and the PC.
Already tried this.
I can connect PC to MAC and MAC to PC on the network. Files and folders can be seen but migration not working!!!

Nope,

That's how it should be, why it's not working is a mystery to me, so it's time to fiddle around using any method that 'should' work.
I am out of ideas, sorry
Trying to avoid manual migration.
Thanks kindly for your help!
