Verbatim 8x or 16x?

Hi ALL,

New to the forum and have a question about media. I currently have verbatim 16x DVD-R media I am using with pretty good results. I am burning at 4x speed and doing the whole Disk Image burn deal. Question: Will I gain anything by going out and purchasing 8x instead of 16x? Also, is it ok to burn at 2x with the current verbatim I am using. Is there a chance of even better performance/results by doing a 2x burn with the 16x media?
Thanks for any guidence which can be provided.

In my opinion, the very best would be Verbatim DVD-R 4x or less...the slower the burn the better the DVD.

I think I will use the remainder of my 16x media and do 2x burns with them and for my next purchase go with 4x or 8x. I noticed the 4x is becoming pretty hard to find. Atleast I am not having very much luck finding them. Thanks for your advice!

Just so I am clear. It is OK for me to do a 2x burn using the 16x verbatim media. Your just stating that using the 4x or 8x media would be even better? I am hearing (reading) you right?

If you already have the 16x media, then try the slow burn It should work

Next time you purchase I suggest the slowest media you can find.

Your just stating that using the 4x or 8x media would be even better?

I use Verbatim 8X that I burn at 4X with Toast (or Disk Utility). Very reliable. 🙂

I have a Dual 1.8 Tower G5 and the DVD burner will absolutely NOT BURN ANY 16Xs DVDs. The Combo drive is only rated to 8Xs and , for some reason, it chokes on 16Xs media even if you try to burn in 4Xs speed.It took mw a long while to find that problem and upon buying some 8Xs DVDs and using them it solved the problem.
