Mine still don't work any advice please no churp/ connection sound
I wanna thank you ever sooooooooooooooooooooooo much I was so angry with myself alllllllllllllllllllll day today because I dropped my new i-pad and there was no response not even a chirp. Then my daughter in law said she would google it ....well she did, and thanx to your ingenuity mine works great again. I appreciate that very much.Im sure when the grandkids get home from school today they will be equally as happy.
I dropped mine too last night! Couldnt believe it when the screen went dead and my iPad would not turn on! However when I plugged in the charger cable the iPad churpt and I cold tell it wasnt dead because it made the sound as if it were charging. Soooo, I searched online all night and I found a couple of solutions that actually worked and my iPad is working again! Yippee! I am am soo happy this worked for me! I hope the below tips will work for you! Did your screen crack?
First- connect your device to your charger cable and plug it in, listen for the "churp/connection" sound. If you hear the sound then its not dead it just sustained some impact from the drop. Fully charge your device(if needed).
Second- hold the screen lock and home button for 30-60 seconds to reset the iOS, you should see the Apple logo appear in the middle of the screen as if it were powering on. Give it a minute to load, if this does not happen repeat the steps a few times. Make sure you are holding the "screen lock" and "home button" at the same time.
This worked for me and Im up and running! If this doesnt work I've read that a few light taps on the back with the glass facing down on a soft surface like carpet may jar it back on. I did NOT have to try this because mine came back on after I did the reset. Hope this helps! GOOD LUCK! O:-)
My iPad has just been dropped and a s black screen. Trying your solution but when it went on charge - silence. However, I know it's not dead as after the drop I plugged it into PC and could see and view all the photos stored on the iPad.
So just waiting for the charge to complete before trying the buttons trick and the tapping.- hopefully it will work for me as well as it has worked for everyone else
Thank you. I have just done as you outlined and my iPad did come back to life. The glass has fine breaks and a smashed corner, but the OS works. I am so grateful. I realize how much I value my iPad, but the thought of having to be without if for a short time, was painful. I am impressed by the robustness of the hardware. So what I will buy now is a more durable case - and maybe for my iPhone as well......
Thanks for posting your solution.🙂🙂
Thank you! I tried this after taking it to be repaired at an Apple store and being told there was nothing that could be done. It has worked for me twice now!!
Hi, my ipad was dropped (from about 3 feet!!) and I had no picture. I read on this site about slapping the back of the ipad, which I did, and surprise surprise, the picture (pink(ish)) and functionality returned. The colour of screen was still distorted and despite another couple of slaps, which changes the colour from now blue to white, albeit the images are still a bit distorted. Any more advise would be useful.
Thank you for your restoration tips! I dropped my iPad about a week ago and couldn't figure it out. But, now its working again.
You are a legend. i dropped mine this morning and sure enough it wouldnt switch on. Tried putting it to charge - nothing, tried resetting it - nothing, put it on my bed face down and gave it a few firm taps - it springs to life!
Thank you so much I thought that I had broken it for good and that I had lost my brothers clash of clans game! But luckily I found your comment and tried it, thank god it worked! Now my brother doesnt hate me and all I need to do is get a new screen! 🙂😀 thank you!!
Girl you are a life saver!!! I was sooooooo worried!!! My gosh this is the second time I've dropped my Ipad. But when it wasnt coming on I was sooooooo depressed!!!
Thank you soooooo very much. Isnt Apple awesome....

Oh my. I am quite attached to my I pad 2, my grandson accidently dropped it down my stairs and it would not work afterwards. (BTW he is 4 and has been using pads since he was 2). Thought it was capput so I went out and got an I pad Air. I was going to bring the old one to geek squad because the next day I plugged it in and it chirped. I queried this on line and here I am. Well it worked!!!! Thank you. I did shell out quite a bit of bucks with the upgrade to the air 64, but now I will be able to have the old one for my grand son when he comes. Of course I do love my new ipad. Wanted to upgrade anyway for a while now.
YES!!! Thank you!!! My b/f kept remotely changing the app on my roku with his stupid ipad right in the middle of a good movie. He does it all the time just to mess with me and i'm really sick of it so i went in the other room and punched his shoulder and yelled at him to stop and HE dropped his ipad and it turned off and wouldn't turn back on. i didn't hit him that hard, but he blamed me for breaking his ipad. told me to fix it or he was gonna break my HP, which would not fair well for him. I found your post right away and fixed it and gave it back to him. he was surprised as he was messing with it for over an hour and he couldn't get it to work!!
Thanks to your recommendation my b/f is still alive and i'm not in prison.
Is there anyway i can block him from messing with my roku with his ipad? I'm sick of having my movies interrupted by gory youtube videos.
Thanks again
I couldn't get mine on for 4 days. Finally i run across this answer and nothing worked at first. So i placed it glass down on the carpet and open hand hit the back like 5 times and it came right on! I can't believe that worked! Thanks
Omgsh! I was very skeptical about this after reading. I even tried about 4 times...my screen would just barely light up. I ALMOST gave up. At first I tapped lightly, then a "medium" tap, then I finally got frustrated and gave it some pretty severe slams with my fist (while lying it face down on the bed). That did it! I am so thankful and so shocked that this actually worked! If it doesn't work at first, keep trying! Thanks to all of you for sharing this and providing this magic fix!!!
