I dropped mine too last night! Couldnt believe it when the screen went dead and my iPad would not turn on! However when I plugged in the charger cable the iPad churpt and I cold tell it wasnt dead because it made the sound as if it were charging. Soooo, I searched online all night and I found a couple of solutions that actually worked and my iPad is working again! Yippee! I am am soo happy this worked for me! I hope the below tips will work for you! Did your screen crack?
First- connect your device to your charger cable and plug it in, listen for the "churp/connection" sound. If you hear the sound then its not dead it just sustained some impact from the drop. Fully charge your device(if needed).
Second- hold the screen lock and home button for 30-60 seconds to reset the iOS, you should see the Apple logo appear in the middle of the screen as if it were powering on. Give it a minute to load, if this does not happen repeat the steps a few times. Make sure you are holding the "screen lock" and "home button" at the same time.
This worked for me and Im up and running! If this doesnt work I've read that a few light taps on the back with the glass facing down on a soft surface like carpet may jar it back on. I did NOT have to try this because mine came back on after I did the reset. Hope this helps! GOOD LUCK! O:-)
Omgsh! I was very skeptical about this after reading. I even tried about 4 times...my screen would just barely light up. I ALMOST gave up. At first I tapped lightly, then a "medium" tap, then I finally got frustrated and gave it some pretty severe slams with my fist (while lying it face down on the bed). That did it! I am so thankful and so shocked that this actually worked! If it doesn't work at first, keep trying! Thanks to all of you for sharing this and providing this magic fix!!!

OMG, thank you soon much, my daughter dropped hers and after reset etc it still didn't work. Then found this reply and tried it initially it didn't work but this morning I tried again and hey presto it worked saving me ££££'s so thank you again.
Thank you sooooo much omg. I dropped my school ipad and it wasn't turing on and I was freaking out because I would've had to pay the school a whole lot for damage fees, thank you so much this was very helpful and helped not only my ipad, but my wallet too haha
Man! Thought I was doomed! Applecare has expired on my iPad and like other posters, I use this baby a lot and didn't want to lose all the data on it. The firm slap on the back did it for me. Did the reset after the screen came to life and everything is good as new...at least I hope it is. Thanks for the great advice!
Thank you very much, this worked for me too :-)
Thank you Peroxide18! Glad it worked for you😎
Me too - it worked for me today as well. I dropped mine earlier today and thought that was it and an insurance claim was nigh, but hurrah you saved me a lot of hassle. Thanks ever so much x
The fix really works.
Thanks very much to DynamiteDmoney.
My 3 year-old grandson could have been in debt for many years. Instead he's back on the iPad (but sitting on the floor this time.
Yay! it worked. Thanks!

YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE POWER BUTTON AND THE HOLD SCREEN BUTTON AT THE SAME TIME FOR 30-40 SECONDS 🙂
What buttons do you hold on an iPad 2? The lock screen button is a slide.
DUDE THANKS SO MUCH I WAS SO WORRIED THAT I HAVE TO GO TO THE APPLE STORE TO FIX IT.
