Macbook Air overheating in sleep mode; ManagedClient is the culprit?

When I leave my Air closed and plugged in (sleep mode), sometimes the processor will start overheating (fan kicks in). When I open the computer up, the OS is sluggish, like the processor is getting hammered.

I check Activity Monitor and see that multiple (i.e. dozens) of processes of "ManagedClient" have started and are running simultaneously. Why?

The only solution is to reboot the machine. All the processes go away, the processor cools down, but then when I sleep the machine the process starts over. Please help?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

If processes are running, then it's not actually sleeping. The issue would be that it's not going to sleep.

So, something is preventing it from going to sleep.

I have the same problem, although I only seem to get two or three instances of Managed Client running rather than the dozens that others report. Nevertheless, between them they use 95-100% CPU and set the fan running full throttle.

Managed Client shouldn't be running at all, as far as I can see. My Mac has only ever been used as a standalone home computer, so it is not a managed client and is not and never has been part of a workgroup.

This problem only started with the upgrade to Mavericks.

I have a mid-2010 MBP on OSX 10.9.2.

Edit: Unchecking 'wake for network access' didn't fix it.

Thanks very much. Found an old print job still trying to run.

Got rid of it and disabled the "Wake for Network Access".

Restarted and fan hasn't run up since and "Managedclient" now nowhere to be seen in CPU list.

Hopefully it's fixed, but only time will tell.

It would be useful if Apple phone support staff took some time and read these user posts.

Wasted a lot of time talking to them about this problem.
