Macbook Air overheating in sleep mode; ManagedClient is the culprit?

When I leave my Air closed and plugged in (sleep mode), sometimes the processor will start overheating (fan kicks in). When I open the computer up, the OS is sluggish, like the processor is getting hammered.

I check Activity Monitor and see that multiple (i.e. dozens) of processes of "ManagedClient" have started and are running simultaneously. Why?

The only solution is to reboot the machine. All the processes go away, the processor cools down, but then when I sleep the machine the process starts over. Please help?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

If processes are running, then it's not actually sleeping. The issue would be that it's not going to sleep.

So, something is preventing it from going to sleep.

Open Console in your Utilities folder to see if you can find any info regarding sleep status. Once again, the display going on and off is not an indicator of sleep. Sleep by definition means that no processes are running.

Are you hooked to an external monitor?

Some MacBook Airs have indicator lights, your mention of 2012 was a key.

I have a similar issue. After installing OS X 10.9, I got a download code for the OS X Server Software over the Apple Developer Program. Since I have installed it, I get dozens of processes pushing up the fan of my MacBook Pro and they are all named "ManagedClient". I deleted the Software from my Mac but every time my Mac "goes sleeping", after 90 or 120 minutes, the problem starts again. CPU goes up to 100% and only stops if I cancel the processes in the Activity Window.

I have exactly the same problem.

This is the first thread there i see someone else has this problem too.

MacBook air is closed, some time later the fan kicks in, if i open it i see multiple managed client instances eating cpu power.

the problem is not "it is closed wrong", it is just ... the managed client starts multiple times, and does whatever without any apparent reason

I have the same issue since I got OS X 10.9, when I leave my MacBook Pro (Mid 2012, i7, 8 GB) alone for an hour or two, it doesn’t get into sleep mode, when it is plugged in, that happens ONLY if I run it on battery. (I checked the energy settings and it says: sleep after 45 minutes, when plugged. There is no other hardware connected to the MacBook. And I don’t run any sharing services.)

The most annoying thing is, that after leaving it plugged, it is not going to sleep, but starts the fan running high. When that happens, the only way is to force a restart (ctrl+cmd+power button). In some few cases it was possible to log in (very slowly) while fans running high and the activity monitor shows about 15 to 30 ‘ManagedClient’ processes using the whole CPU power. After a restart, there were no ‘ManagedClients’ in the activity monitor and the computer cooled down. - How can that be fixed? 😕
