Loss of Time Machine Data Pre Mavericks Install

After upgrading to Mavericks recently I can no longer see any data on Time Machine prior to the date of upgrade.

TM is working fine and I have updated the firmware on my Time Capsule.

I had perfectly good data backup before hand and want to know if there is any way I can recover this.

All current discussions seem to revolve around TM not backing up etc; mine is but its just that I now only have records dating from SINCE I installed Mavericks and only black screens with pink coloure dates on the right showing prior to that date.

OK. Done that.

I've now gone into Macintosh HD, scrolled down to Mail and copied it to Desktop.

Now, when I go into Mail / File / Import Mailboxes - I'm presented with the following window:

User uploaded file

I hit Continue and got this:

User uploaded file

So I tried again with Apple Mail

User uploaded file

...but, when I hit Continue, Mail is greyed out in Finder so I can't select it.

Further to my last I have just tried to open the saved Mail on my desktop

User uploaded file

and up came this window:

User uploaded filewhereas my post-Mavericks install Mail is Version 7.0

Would this have something to do with it?

....... as I have noticed that some, but not all, of my local mailboxes have just the title showing with no lead-in text visible and when I open them all I have is a blank page with the appropriate title at the top. (Hence my reason for attempting to recover them via the pre-Mavericks Time Machine era - which remains blank)

But picture above shows the list - all the way to the bottom! What am I missing?

Sorry about the incomplete text on above reply but Support Community went down just as I was editing it! The last line should have ended reading "Files.mbox sub menu".

HOWEVER!! Just tried gone through the process again to check and, unlike before when the "You can find ....." window appeared immediately, another window appeared first - showing files being imported - THEN the 'You can find ' window appeared and, lo & behold the Import folder now appears on the Mailbox list (ON MY MAC just below Drafts):

User uploaded file

Opening up the numerous sub-folders under Import eventually got me to Messages but I see only some have been recovered and a couple of complete Folders are missing .....getting closer I guess!

Yes, and I'm most grateful. I have recovered the message as per above and it was readable in the recovered folder but I see when I moved it to my regular local mailbox and open it, the content disappears leaving only the title (as I descibed earlier). Guess this is a function of it being in the older Version 4.5 of Mail.

I sense your frustration but again I do appreciate your advice, many thanks.
